I have never had any luck with deer lures and really do not believe in them much especially the doe in estrus scents. I seen an advertisement on Smokey's Preorbital and interdigital scents for mock scrapes. I also found Paul Pollicks deer lures, he also has these two lures. Just wondering if anyone has ever tried these or had any luck with them.

In my experience, I seemed to have negative results more than anything when I tried them, so I gave up years ago. A deer decoy always ticks off does to no end. I did kill a big half rack that came in behind a decoy one time, one and only time.

50/50. Years ago I used a tonquin? Deer lure and it worked amazing I have called rattled a tinks 69 plenty of deer in. I now just wait patiently till the first half of November for a estrus doe to drag every buck in the county by . Come on October I mean november.

I've had fairly good luck using "Active Scrape"; by placing it in a drip bag about a couple weeks before rifle season.

I've used a bunch of different scents and have never seen much result from them. I can think of a few little bucks that checked out some Tinks 69 but never a decent buck. I still use just regular ol doe urine as a sort of cover scent but don't worry with anything else. I'll just spend that money somewhere else.

I've drawn in a couple decent bucks with sent, have 1 hanging on my wall, but out of 30 years of hunting and only a couple of times it actually worked,I'd say the odds are against it.

Never thought scents were much of a deal either.

Never use anything.
Until two years ago I had not done any sort of scent elimination or scent lure for about 10 years or so. I now use smoke as an elimination system but no lures of any type.

I've only had one case where I knew for sure that the buck came in because of the scent.
Years ago I had some James Valley fox urine "with a hint of deer musk" that was in my junk drawer. I had won it as a door prize a couple years before. I splashed some on my boots more as a trail cover scent and walked into my stand.. About an hour after daylight I heard chasing going on the way I walked in. Next thing I know here comes a 140 class buck with his nose to the ground following my scent trail. He detoured around a pine tree that had walked around so it was definite that he was scent trailing me.. I had walked past my stand and circled back . I dropped him at 20 yards.

I have literally watched both bucks and does walk directly by scent wicks & canisters without any acknowledgement whatsoever. Personally witnessing that is enough for me. I just focus on scent elimination and cover scent, which is a whole other debate.

I have had poor luck with bottled scents as well. What has really worked for me is a more natural approach. I use the scent pads from the bucks or does from the last season (found on the inside of the hind legs). I keep them in the freezer and hang them in a bush about nose level. I have found that the big bucks have a real interest in both the doe pads and also the buck pads.

Only once have I seen it work and I don't even know what it was. My 2nd year hunting I had a small 7pt chase a doe in, I grunted at him and he came right in. He hit my boot tracks and walked my entire path a couple hundred yards to the base of the tree my buddy was hunting.
I thought i sprayed a scent eliminator, my buddy says it was deer dander.. who knows what it was but that 1 buck liked it.
Other than that I've seen bucks and does walk right over my drag and never care. I save my money now.

I've heard that if you take a branch from an apple tree and put it into a storage tote for about a month before you decide to go out. From what I'm told it makes your clothes smell like a hint of apple. I haven't tried it. Some people swear by it like I'm sure everyone has their preferred method.

I had used Hoosier trapper supply Doe Estrus a few years a go and put it around me while I sat on the ground up against a tree, no blind. A half rack large buck was walking along a fence row and turned on a dime and started walking right toward me (a little scary). He was at 10 yards and started to paw and the ground and put up an aggressive stance. I HAD TO SHOOT! I thought he was going to turn me into a pin cushion or his new girlfriend. I don't think they draw ALL deer in but can create a shot opportunity if one is walking close by.

Don't they say on the bottle don't put it on yourself, I understand that you didn't however putting it all around me and having him walk in on me. I don't think the Estrus could of hidden the scent coming from my shorts.
