What's up guys. I just moved to Indiana a few months ago and am excited to be hunting a new part of the country. I live in Noblesville and am having a tough time finding a place that is relatively close to hunt. Everyone is telling me I'm gonna have to head South. I've been up to Mississinewa a couple of times just poking around it looks like it might have some potential. Can anyone give me a little heads up on what to expect or maybe some nudges in the right direction. I'm certainly not looking for specifics of your spot on a public forum. I'm interested to hear if it catches much pressure.....decent deer density?......good bucks coming from up there? Anybody on here hunting on that property?
Thanks for helping a newbie to Indiana hunting. If any of y'all get an itch to hunt in Mississippi, just let me know and I'll return the favor.

if your bow hunting you'll be fine. Not to much pressure but opening day of gun season there will be alot of idiots walking around at first light. I know a few real nice bucks that have been taking from up there.. good luck

Yeah I figured bowhunting would probably be my best bet there....or hunting occasionally in the middle of the week. I saw some tracks when I was up there a few days ago, but it's so hard to tell anything about deer density or even find much sign during the summer. Should be an interesting season.

Has to be some good deer hunting there. That is a big property with great habitat and there are plenty of deer. As hilly and rugged as that place is, you should be able to find a few spots that don't get disturbed much.
Winamac fish and game area is another nice one in the area. I've got a couple buddies that have done very well on that property.

Ive hunted Mississinewa for over 2 decades and it gets hunted hard especially during gun season. Not as many bowhunters out, but you have gun hunters walking everywhere scouting and setting up stands. Be prepared to walk if you want to be somewhat left alone. Handful of guys I know never even saw a deer from their stands last year, so it can be tough unless you know what areas to go to/stay away from. We had EHD go through there a few years ago and the numbers have been down, but hopefully starting to make a recovery. Earlier this summer we had a record flood wipe out alot of cover along the waters edge...still not sure how that will affect the hunting, everyone has mixed opinions on that subject.

I saw the effects of the flood. Not sure what to think about that either. There is enough high ground around that I can't imagine it effecting much as far as deer or turkey populations. I'm still looking for another place to hunt but we're out of time for this year. I'll probably try to slip up there some in the middle of the week and during bow season. We'll see i guess....
