Hard to believe it is here already. 50's for a low and 80 for a high right now; it does look to be dry. Wish it was a little bit later but for this time of year forecast could be worse. The one bad thing is the wind looks to be an east wind right now, 10-15mph. I'm not set up for that wind.

As long as it's not totally miserable and raining I will be happy to be sitting with my 15yr old son. My husband and I just double checked the blinds and treestands yesterday. Best of luck to everyone!

Doesn't help when mom washes camo in lavender.

Sounds like sabotage to me! I always wash my own hunting clothes and work uniforms. She has tried to help before but, I'm a little particular with them. I like them nice and crisp, lent free, straight lines, hemmed and tailored for that custom fit. As far as the uniforms go, i'll wear them straight out of the dryer.

My 15 year old grandson and I are heading to the blind. Very light wind from the east which is perfect.

Good luck to all the youth hunters this weekend. My daughter and I are set up in a small woods just off the road. The wind is perfect for this location and it's a high traffic area where the deer cross to get to water. Fingers crossed!

My son and I are heading out this evening. He has a football game here in an hour.
Since this is his first hunt, we picked out a bullet and he wrote some stuff on it. I couldn't read it but he said it read, "I love guns and bucks".
Good luck youth!!!

And he missed - doe at 50yds. While I'm sure he's disappointed, I don't know of any deer hunter that hasn't missed a deer or two.... Hopefully he'll get another opportunity. Good luck!

He has missed with the bow before but it is his first miss with a firearm. We had a doe come off the hill just a bit earlier - no clear shot - and head into the brush in the bottom. We looked for any kind of movement for a good while; nothing. We figured she got in the creek bed and went south. Just when he decided to move a bit she poked her head above a rise about 20yds away from us - busted! Then the one he missed came out along the far side of the creek bed not too long after that. We had deer; they just beat us this morning. Think he raised his head to look at the deer - that will do it every time. He thought he hit it at first - hated to have to tell him otherwise.

We are in the blind and ready to rock. He is so pumped and daddy is too. We had fun with the war paint. Now the deer and my boy need to do their parts. We will be out tomorrow morning if nothing goes down tonight. Fingers crossed.
