Start pushing for more gun control laws and ignoring the constitution? They will try to ban guns or put more restrictions on buying guns or ammo and the NRA and like minded people will out gun them again hopefully.
Maybe they would be better off trying to get more funding for the "Mentally Ill" so that they could be put into mental institutions where they belong instead of out roaming on the streets and creating trouble.
Like the old saying goes. If guns killed people no one walking into a gun store would walk out alive. Crazy People kill other people with guns, knives and even cars at times. Ban Crazy People not guns.
Hopefully the commotion will pass and the US Constitution will stand.
I saw a cool looking shirt on this guy the other day. It has a picture of a 1776 Musket type rifle on it and the caption read. 1976 Modern Sporting Rifle. They other side of the "T" shirt should of had a picture of a 2015 AR15 which read 2015 Modern Day Sporting Rifle. I think that "T" shirt said it all for me.
The founding father's wanted us to have arms to help keep a tyrannical Big Brother Government in Check. Just like they did when they confronted the British and won their independence. IMHO

There is nothing more anti-feminist then refusing a woman the one easy to use tool that gives her a fighting chance against sexual assault and battery. That is my favorite line to use against proclaimed feminists that talk about banning guns while simultaneously spewing that men rape culture is everywhere and a huge issue.

POTUS was using it to push for more gun control before the bodies were even counted.

POTUS was using it to push for more gun control before the bodies were even counted. His typical way to find "loop-holes" to disarm law abiding citizens. While his Chicago, which has strict gun control laws, is the murder capital of the country.

Does our constitution mention anything specifically about the right to bear arms to hunt, protection against one's neighbor? It's too protect against a government, to maintain the ability to overthrow our government. Take away our guns and they have control over us. This is what they want. We will not be able to successfully rise up against them. It's laughable to me that they care about saving lives. Really??? There are a lot of stupid Americans out there who actually trust our government. When they do get our guns, they actually might start telling the truth; they won't fear the impact of the truth then. Still, the power of any government is in its military. Many of our military will no longer support our government if they attempt to take our guns. We won't give them up easily. An army will rise up among the people, and the government will attempt to slaughter us just like all the other dictatorships or totalitarians do. Many nations came against Hitler and his armies, but who will come to our aid? LOL We're on our own, and I'd prefer to be armed with a little more than a pitchfork and axe.

This might be a an odd thought, but it is not just criminals we have to protect ourselves from. Did anybody see where the two women were almost killed by four pit bulls? I have never had a threat from any wildlife, but I have been threatened by dogs, domestic and feral both. Had to kill a German Shepherd on my property.

A way to go around the constitution is to put a 400% tax on guns and ammo, or any tax they want. This is what they did to pass the Obamacare "tax" ...penalty. But this isn't good enough for them, they want the ones we have.

I sincerely hope that whoever is elected President next November; will void/repeal all the damaging "treasonous" laws Obama and his minions have manage to enact into law. We should all contact those running this & next 2016 November elections, that if they support Obama's anti-gun agenda or fail to support ALL the Bill-Of-Rights, they will not be elected. These individuals that are now in office took an Oath to protect & Defend the Constitution as it is written. Too many have breached this law and should go to jail for treason.

As to you question- How long will it take...?
The anti-gun nuts NEVER stop pushing! I guarantee that the outline of the Prez's speech was already prepared, simply waiting for a terrorist act (and these shootings are terrorism!) so he could push the agenda farther along!
It has been well said that "Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty." We must be committed to vigilance. Obviously, we're "preaching to the choir" here- we have to continue to be the "squeaky wheel" that get's the attention of elected officials.

I have never had a threat from any wildlife, but I have been threatened by dogs, domestic and feral both. Had to kill a German Shepherd on my property. Before I purchased my first hand gun (Actual Firearm 9 mm) I carried a small pellet Pistol at times in the truck with me. It looks real but it only shoots .17 mm pellets via a CO2 cartridge. It won't stop much of anything. Probably just make it mad.
While going out to the truck one day I opened the garage door from inside the garage and proceeded to go out to get something out of my truck which was sitting in the driveway next to the house out front. I immediately noticed this big dog running loose out in the street in front of my house. This this was as big as a small pony. I think it was what they call a MASTIFF.
www.google.com/search?q=Mastiff+Dog&sa=X&rls=com.microsoft:en-US:IE-Address&biw=1536&bih=654&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&ved=0CBwQsARqFQoTCIHkkKWlqcgCFUIqHgoddHoP2A
The dog saw me and let out a low frequency but loud WOOOF and started in my direction. I did a 180 and went back into the house. It was after that even that I started to think about getting a real handgun and a carry permit. Now I've never though I needed to carry a gun but I always thought it was be cool to do so. Just never really felt the need to spend the money on a gun. They are not cheap and ammo is expensive if you shoot a lot. Those were my initial thoughts before I bough my first hand gun.
The MASTIFF belong to the people living behind my house and they normally kept him on a chain out in their back yard next to their yard barn. I had heard the dog barking when I went out on the back porch but didn't see it since the yard bard was in the way. One day I went out into a different area of the back yard and almost into my next door neighbors yard to get a different angle in order to see what type of dog was barking at me. I was shocked when I got my first glimpse of this dog. It was as big if not bigger than a St Beard. The thing scared the heck out of me. So I was always worried about it getting lose and coming after me. I never knew when it might get lose. It certainly didn't seem friendly at all. It was aggressive and dangerous. It got lose one time and I called the local Sheriff to report it. They told me to call the dog pond people. So they came out and gave a warning to the owners to keep the dog on the chain better and not let it get lose. Now I know how hard it is to keep a big dog tied up all the time. They will find a way to get lose eventually. So the inevitable happened. It got lose and spent some time at my back door on my wooden deck. The thing was waiting for me to come out. LOL Well I called the dog people again and they got the owner to put the dog back on the leash again. But I didn't know when the dog might get lose again. This last time was after dark and the dog running though my back yard was setting off the motion detector and turning on my 500 Watt Security light ever 10 minutes. It took me a while at first to figure out what was making my security light go on at full power. Then I saw the dog just outside my back door and sniffing at the door. He knew that I was inside and was scratching at the door. My screen on the storm door has a few new holes in the screen. After I called the Sheriff again they put the dog back on the chain and all was fine until the next morning. The next morning the Mastiff got lose again and attacked a morning jogger as she was running down the road in front of the dog's owners home. That incident was the last straw. The dog torn her clothing but didn't break the skin. She was lucky.
After this all the owners must have gotten rid of the Mastiff as I didn't see it in their yard anymore after the lady got attacked. They later moved out as they were renting the house.
After this all happened the guy that lives in the house right behind me got two African Lion Dogs. He installed an invisible fence electrical wire around his yard. So the dogs were free to roam most all of his yard. They were good with the guys kids and him and his wife but were very aggressive towards any thing else that moved. They tore up the yard with their digging and constant running around in the same area. They spent most of their time looking towards the road and my house. So they were killing the grass in the yards . Now the problem with a invisible fence system is that the collar run on batteries and they go bad after some time. So the one dog's batteries went dead before the other dogs. So one dog was able to escape the yard and roam around the neighborhood. I again called the dog people and ask them to contact the owners and make them keep the dogs under better control. The Sheriff came out and pulled into their drive way. The dog was out and running loose but the owners were not at home at the time. The dog didn't bite the Sheriff Deputy when he got out of his patrol car and was actually friendly when the Deputy. I was afraid that the dog would get hit by a car as he was chasing every car that went by the house. The other dog was still stuck inside the electrical Invisible Fence area and going crazy watching his brother roam the streets freely. They were always together all the time. If one of them went to the North Side of the Yard the other one followed. If one of them saw a squirrel or cat on the East side of the Road they both were at far East in the Yard as the invisible fence allowed them to go without getting shocked by the Shock Collar. They would pace along the boarder and wear a path of dead grass there.
The owners finally got rid of them. Not sure what they did with them. The previous people that lived in the house were on METH and no straight people even talked or had anything to do with them. I did witness the State Police come to the House looking for the ladies (owner of the house) son and they found him hiding inside the house and took him off to jail for cooking and selling Meth. Another neighbor told me that the drug people has a hit out on him. Contract to murder him. Not sure if that was true but one never knows what's going on around them these days.
So now I have a Walther's PPQ M2 9 mm and a Ruger LC9S Pro on me at all times. If I got out in the yard and a dog tries to attack me I'll shoot it to protect myself. I'm glad that all the mean dogs are gone from my immediate area. The only other dogs around are kept inside and are small dogs. Wiener dogs and the kind that would fit inside a soup bowl. They are not going to attack me in my back yard but their barking or Yipping is annoying at times.
The Walther's I'll take with me when I got out in the woods and fields hunting.

I just talked to another older guy who was bitten and almost killed by a Pit Bull that was running loose. Another guy pulled the dog off him or he might have died.
The guy who was bitten showed me his scars. He was bitten in more than one place. On his arms and hand and also on his stomach.
I need to get out and walk for exercise but the street that I live on is now full of about 15 new homes when 6 years ago there were only 4 on my street. So that means more dogs on my street. This prevents me from walking up and down my street as I don't want to get bit and I really don't want to have to shoot anyone dog either. So I just don't walk on my street anymore.

Different dogs have different sensitivity to pepper spray. Awhile back I had an unpleasant time with a Great Dane. Pepper spray had absolutely no discernible impact on him.
I've talked with mail carriers who say the same thing: some dogs are deterred by the spray, others aren't.
I think that my S&W snubbie will be effective on most of 'em.
