I've enjoyed bow season much more since I went to the recurve; now I just need to get one in range

I used to use a compound when I was younger and the only deer I've taken in archery was with a compound. I switched to a longbow many years ago.
With the latter, it feels like more of developing a skill. That said, I am concerned as to whether I'll ever be able to practice regularly enough that I feel confident enough to hunt with a longbow.

Deer hunting, to me (I said to me), has nothing at all to do with the tool. I get just as much thrill out of killing a deer with a gun as with a bow. I admire you guys who like to do things the hard way. I don't have that bone.

Ditto what Metamora said. I use all the tools available mostly because it gives me an excuse to be out in the woods doing something. Without a goal, sitting in a treestand for hours at a time seems kind of pointless.
The first deer that I ever shot with a bow was with a recurve.
