Hello all, Just something that I've been curious about, I've heard many, many different theories upon deer movement and the moon phase. Then I've also started hearing, and I guess I haven't paid that much attention to the barometer. Does anyone have any observations or seen any studies done with either one of these?
I've heard that deer will sit longer into the day and move around mostly during the day when the moon is full and with respect to the barometer I'm completely clueless on this. Thanks for all the help and good luck to those who are out hitting it hard right now.
God Bless

I have always found the full moon to be very unproductive as deer will use the increased visibility to move at night and lay low during daylight hours.

My theory is if the cows are moving the deer are too True, but me and my wife can predict if it's going to rain just by taking the percentage of cows laying down on a cloudy day. I never thought the "bovine barometer" would work as well as it does. Of course they could just be tired on that cloudy day.

I believe that the moon phase and the barometer have huge impacts on the deer movement. I use the Deer hunters moon guide and it has been very productive for me. It isn't about the full moon or new moon. It is about the overhead and underfoot times especially when it falls close to sunrise and sunset. If this falls in place with high barometric pressure and rising, you better hold on because the deer will be on their feet. If you want to learn more about the moon guide and the affects of the barometric pressure, I would recommend going to wiredtohunt.com and listening to Adam Hays III's podcast (69) on the moon and Mark Drury's podcast (#63) on barometric pressure. This has helped me better understand these factors.

Thanks guys, I will look into the wired to hunt, and I did watch the video which I thought was really good.
