What does that mean? It cost him that much to shoot it?

That was his bid to win the tag. Rmef auctions it off.

That was his bid to win the tag. Rmef auctions it off. So the guy that shot it paid that much...I am not judging anyone and who knows if the pictures are adding up to real life. That picture with the guy in the costume holding the skull cap, was in a trailer court... I found that a bit strange at first thinking no way those antlers would look good in any trailer. Maybe a euro mount mounted above the car port. Then you tell me someone living in a trailer court paid $50,000+ for an elk tag...I bet he is single!!!! Don't get me wrong, nothing wrong with living in a trailer court. I rented a trailer right out of college. Cheap living and nothing wrong with it. Just my priorities are a bit different if that is the case.

To put it in perspective,
Arizona special elk tag $140,000 Colorado special elk. $34,000 Montana special elk. $28,500 Nevada heritage special elk $100,000 New Mexico enhancement package $200,000 Washington east side elk permit $50,000
Pennsylvania always tops the list. It is one of the most coveted tags in the elk hunting community. The results speak for themselves.
Boys. This shows us that there are people out there that have way more money than we do and not a whole lot else to spend it on.

The keystone elk country alliance (KECA) gets all the money from that tag to use as they see fit it the state of Pennsylvania for elk habitat. This bull cost him $30 total although he did higher an outfitter. The second bull was bought at the annual rmef in Nevada earlier this year. The tag auctioned for $52,000+. Rmef gets a pretty big chunk of that and PA gets what's left.

The KECA drawing itself actually raised $160,000 for elk restoration and habitat in PA.

52k is not that bad most of it gets wrote off on tax time anyway so if you have that kind of income spend it is what I say because it helps the land / parks and guys like us who use it. Look at what some sheep tags sell for most go 100k or more and on top of that another 40 for a outfitter
