Can ANYONE point me to where I can find the outcome to all the proposed changes? Mainly concerning the proposed changes the regulations on running pens. I can find everything except this. Last I heard it was pushed back for consideration and haven't heard anything solid except he said she said.

For the life of me I can't remember the rule clause it was. Keep thinking 19-10 or 9-10 but it's not. Any of course I have those two numbers in my mind so it's locked on those two.

I just clicked on americanbeagler to find the thread I'd read that in....I see you're there already lol They jump to conclusions there real quick. Half of what you hear and 1% of what you see type thing. You want to get humbled real quick by people that "know" more than you ask a question on there.

Stupid stupid stupid on the NRC part. The amount of opposition and it still passed. Yet the deer farms still have an easy go. They cried well what about the money I have in my enclosure. Well what about me? I'm $10,000 into mine. Who's going to reimburse me. Just because I'm just shy of 10 acres I'm screwed. Who even writes these rules. I'm allowed to chase but not have the intent to harm or capture the rabbit? ?? Do these people know anything, anything about hounds? Mine sure as heck aren't wanting to snuggle and play with the rabbit. In the two years I've had one rabbit caught so it doesn't happen alot but it's does happen. NRC dropped the ball on this one. I guess I'll just use domestic rabbits. It's okay for them run in a pen though and get caught. That and shooting a tame deer. That's fine also. SMH!!!!!!!

I thought the recent SCOI said the DNR has no control over penned wild animals? According to this they do. Wild cottontail. Oh and tame quail and pheasants. Really. You have the right to control how i used a "domestic" bird but deer are a livestock and can be used how the owner sees fit. If they were so worried about rabbits maybe dump more than .1 of 1% into small game. Deer are fine though. Go smack one in an enclosure. Sorry but yes I am livid.

Heh, what do these people think happens when a dog corners a wild rabbit or bird in a regular hunting scenario? Pretty sure the end result is still the same. CHOMP!

Houndsmen and trappers are considered the two lowest lifeforms of sportsmen by fellow "sportsmen". A sad reality I accepted years ago Shane.

Houndsmen and trappers are considered the two lowest lifeforms of sportsmen by fellow "sportsmen". A sad reality I accepted years ago Shane. Agreed and I find that out more and more everyday. Although I do feel there is some cleanup in our ranks that needs to be done also. Problem is we have no powerful lobby group to protect our rights. The ones that are out there don't have the money or power to travel state to state fighting the rules and regulations that are trying to be passed. I am well aware in my lifetime hound hunting will be a thing of the past. It's the one group that most other hunting groups don't want around. Deer hunters hate them. (In some cases deserved). Property owners hate them. (In some cases deserved). I cringe every time I see a houndsman post, dogs don't know property lines. Cull this cull that. At some point in time houndsman are going to have to clean up our own ranks and group together or our way of life will be history. It's sad. I challenge anyone to run behind a pack of well trained hounds, listen to the music, and tell me it doesn't get your blood pumping.

My spaniels haven't caught a rabbit, but they have caught numerous live birds. They are not killed and they are delivered to hand alive. I've even had them jump about shoulder high and grab a pheasant out of the air that didn't flush fast enough. No broken skin, no broken bones. For the field trial dogs, hard mouth is a no-no and the dog won't make it to the next level if it brings back a bird that is damaged (by the dog).
