If you haven't made plans for this Saturday, Dec. 5th, why not stop by the Indiana Historical Society in downtown Indy for their favorite event of the year, the Holiday Author Fair. There will be 70 authors in attendance for you to shake and howdy with as well as have copies of their books signed. There will be some very well-known, big name authors there and some little known, small-name ones (like me)
If you are looking for some great Christmas gifts, this event will have something for everyone on your list! Here are a few examples of people who will be there to sign their books.
James Alexander Thom (my all-time favorite author and writing hero)--His novels have sold over 2 million copies and 2 have been made into movies. If you like historical fiction, you can't do any better than Thom.
Bob Hammell--Legendary Bloomington Herald sports columnist will be there signing his latest book
Nelson Price will be there signing his book about Ryan White. Ryan's mother, Jeanne, will be his special guest.
Barbara Morrow will be there signing her book about John Wooden.
Indiana' foremost historian, James Madison, will be signing his new book celebrating Indiana's upcoming bicentennial
Dick Cady, the man who wrote the book that broke the story about the Louisville Cardinals recruiting scandal will be there to sign that book, "Breaking Cardinal Rules"
Hoosier basketball legend Clyde Lovellette will be on hand to sign a new book about him.
Sports writer Terry Hutchens will be signing his new history of Indiana University basketball.
These are just a few of the authors that will be there. Truly something for all tastes will be represented.
The whole event is free and that includes admission to the Festival of Trees (over 50 themed Christmas trees on display throughout the beautiful facility) and free admission into the museum exhibits.
The author fair is from noon to 4pm. If you can make it, be sure to find me and say hi. I'll be the one sitting there trying hard to look like a real writer!
Here is pdf file of the brochure that lists all the authors and books that will be there.
