Was wondering how much a difference going from a 7" brace height to a 6" or even a 5" would be? I have shot 7" Brace height bows my whole life but was wanting to step up to a dual cam "speed" bow eventually, just to mix things up.

Not enough difference between 6" and 7" brace height on a large majority of the bows out there. The speed depending on the bow can a bit different. On most 5" brace bows the axle to axle is usually a bit longer than most but the string angle is not as sharp and helps some with the way the bow settles and aims. With the new bow having past parallel limbs the brace is not as critical as it was with the bows of the past with the same axle to axle. plus with the new shorter axle to axle bows the cams are much larger which offsets the string angle to with aiming.

Another factor in making the short brace heights easier to live with now than a decade or so ago is the string stoppers that are either built in or added to almost all bows now. They prevent much of the string overtravel that used to occur, making wrist/forearm slapping less common.

In my experience, which isn't the greatest amount, the shorter the brace height the less forgiving/tolerant the bow is.
