I was fortunate enough to add a buck and doe to the total.

I have not see a this past season's state harvest report yet that was down from the previous year...Anyone?
Question - Is that cartridge pictured legal in Ohio?

Only a buck for me. My sightings were down substantially this season.

Question - Is that cartridge pictured legal in Ohio? Nope. Straight-walled cases only for both handgun and rifle as I read their rules. (Plus, they specify which cartridges are legal. If a cartridge is not on the list you cannot legally use it for hunting deer.)

Since I did so well in Indiana I didn't need to hunt my Ohio backyard for a day. I have two forests within 5 miles (Micheal Memorial (1 mile) Forest and Miami White Water Forest (5m lime)) and there are way two many deer. I have read there are around 1 deer per acre. It's not the same in going to my brothers/friends farms in Indiana. I started my deer hunting there and I prefer to keep it that way. Good luck to the 2016/17 season for all hunters.

Waynes, I grew up right outside Harrison just across the line in Indiana. I hunted Miami Whitewater a few years ago on the reduction program and didn't care for how it was ran. I live up towards Oxford now and did a hunt for Butler county and took a doe in their program. My buck was taken on a friends family farm by my house. My Indiana hunting is in Guilford and St. Leon for the most part. What about you?

I hunt near East Enterprise, Indiana off route 250. My parents bought some land out there when I was a kid and loved every minute. My brother bought a place (100 acres) near my parents old place about 24 years ago. That's where I hunt. When I graduated from UC I moved to Fort Wayne. Stayed there 3 years, but the company owner had a heart attack and wanted to reduce the company down from 75 to 8 or 9. I found a new job in Cincy and moved back. Before I moved back I purchased a Indiana Lifetime license. I looked many times for a farm in Indiana, but never pulled the trigger. Maybe someday. There is a good chance in 4 years. My youngest son will be out of college by then.

My grandparents had a farm in Harrison County, I wish it was still in the family; lots of deer in that area. Every time I go back to visit come dusk I see boatloads of them on the roads heading out of town.
