Bummer!
What do you think is killing them? That looks too fresh for a deer season kill.

Thanks for the photo!
Was it too badly degraded to see if it had been shot?

Thanks for the photo! Was it too badly degraded to see if it had been shot? It had been shot with a bow during firearms season. Some of my family helped look for it. Not sure if that is what did it in or not.

Not sure if that is what did it in or not. Well I'm sure they made a good effort to find it. It's a really nice one to me. I was hoping the farmer would find mine; I guess I'm still hoping it.

I'm going to contact the adjoining land owner to see if anyone has found mine. Had blood he ran across a 300 yard field into some deep ravines and I lost the trail. Nothing bums me out more than losing the trail in the pouring down rain knowing that he could be just over the next ridge. With that in mind I've made a point now to be 100% certain I will hit what I aim at instead of a 99% chance I will. Come to think of it all my kills have been within 20 yards or less. This one was moving and about 35 yards, should of never taken the shot. Still makes me sick knowing that if he died it wasn't a humane kill, or worse knowing that he would be wounded for the next couple of months only to preyed upon by coyotes.

It happens if one shoots deer, important thing is to Analise what went wrong and learn from it as you have We all put marginal shots in occasionally, just that one gets away with a lot more with a 308 than a bow. regards Billy

I saw two road kills about 20 yards apart on the highway tonight in a ditch right by where I hunt. I sure hated to lose them, but am thankful that there are still plenty more left.
