Hello all, I had a question for you and I am looking for some input, hopefully good input. The other day my father and 2 friends went out to our lake and said all the way around the edge of it the fish were going crazy. They tried to catch some of them by throwing lures in the water but to no avail.
My question is are the bass spawning right now? If so great, however does anyone know the spawning habits of Asian carp. The reason I asked is that my friend said the fish that he saw were pretty good sized fish, but the water was so muddied up by their moving around he couldn't see what type they were. I am hoping for some good news here and I know ultimately I will have to get out there and look for myself however my work schedule is not all that conducive to me doing that.
Thanks and god bless.

And where in the state? With the crazy weather this Spring, what is happening in the Southern part of the state isn't happening in the Northern part of the state.

Sorry forgot to elaborate a little more. A private lake me and my father own and it is just north of Petersburg across the white river. I'm concerned it might be Asian carp, but with my work and other issues going on in life I haven't been able to get out there in over 3 weeks.

Probably not invasive carp.

Hard telling. Fish spawn in accordance with water temps. Crappie like it about 62 degrees and are generally spawning in brush, downed timber or weeds 2' to 6' deep. Bluegill spawn at about 66 degrees and there will be a whole bunch of them together. They dish out little hub cap sized depression sin soft bottom areas. Bass spawn at similar temps to bluegill, but nests will be individual, larger, and not a group. Muddy makes me think carp? Game fish don't typically stir up the mud too badly.

Yes bass are spawning in my pond right now. They are probably grass carp to help with vegetation in the pond. Got some in mine. They are huge and look like Asian carp.

Yes bass are spawning in my pond right now. They are probably grass carp to help with vegetation in the pond. Got some in mine. They are huge and look like Asian carp. In Indiana, it is only legal to stock Triploid Grass Carp. Each egg is treated when fertilized to change chromosomes so that it makes them sterile. Each fish has a blood test done at the producer to ensure that they are triploid, then each batch of 5,000 fish is randomly tested by Federal F&W Service to double check. If any fish were found to be not triploid by the F&W service, then the whole lot has to be individually tested again. Also, in Indiana the place selling the Triploid Grass Carp has to physically place the fish in the pond, and send quarterly reports to the state as to where the fish went, and how many went to each location.
