I can't see all the love for the bob cat. It's just another predator we really don't need. Our turkeys are having a hard time of it as it is.

Not knowing where all of you live that have posted here, is this a North/South issue or do their populations follow other topographical features? I have heard of only one recently being trapped in Tippecanoe County. Knowing that there have been sightings for many years I would imagine there have been others.

They are few and far between in my area, just know of a couple guys that got trail cam pics. I'd leave them alone for a few more years. If they are more heavily populated in southern counties, I wouldn't have a problem allowing one per season, county by county deal.

They're pretty thick down here in southern Indiana. The DNR has been receiving 70+ roadkill reports annually for the last few years.

I believe bobcats have been confirmed in over 60 Indiana counties. This is just what has been confirmed by the DNR, there have been sightings in even more counties.

Its a mostly nocturnal animal, you won't see a lot even if a lot are around. Don't see very many beaver either....but our creeks rivers and lakes care full of them. Rarely see a mink, but I've caught dozens in traps.

I think yes by county. Some southern counties have too many in my opinion. I'm thinking that it might be hurting the turkey population down there, and anything that does this needs to have a season. I can tell you that the turkey population has not suffered in warrick county.

Especially people who live and hunt in the northern part of the county and near the river.

I got more pictures of turkey on trailcams at bluegrass this fall than ever before. As are the rules of nature though, i see turkey cause im not hunting turkey.

I hunt over by Scales and Enenezer Road. I've seen turkeys every time out but did not lay eyes on a longbeard. No gobbling to speak of. My son killed one there but I was skunked. First time in a long time..
I do see one or two bobcats every deer season..

I've already had more bobcat activity on my cams this year (just 4 months) than I have combined through the previous years going back to 2011. Granted, I have multiple cams now versus the 1 or 2 that I started out with. There is a good population on (or surrounding) my families property in Greene Co. The turkey population doesn't seem to be hurting either even with all this increased activity. Had lots of birds on the cams this year. In my opinion we're close to needing a season but not this year. Someone in a previous post said that they could get their roots in deeper with a little more time. I agree with this. If the season does happen it needs to be like the otter season.

I was just getting ready to post this! They used a couple of my trail cam vids in this news segment. You can see my username in the bottom right hand corner of the videos. That's why I named my cams.

Well, since someone from HSUS doesn't see a need, then by all means we shouldn't even consider it.

OK so I just realized that Woody posted a different link than what I was going to post. Should've checked that first. Here's the one where Charlie Masheck from Hoosier Trapper Supply was interviewed and this one shows my trail cam vids. Kind of embarrassing I didn't notice that last night. www.wthr.com/clip/12442944/bobcat-hunting-considered
