It was -16.2°F here this morning right before sunrise. That's pretty durn cold to be sitting in a treestand!!
I DID see a whole bunch of deer in cut corn fields during the last 1/2 hr of daylight yesterday. They knew the cold was coming and were loading up on carbs.

If a person wants the opportunity to freeze their grapes off, I'm pretty sure you can still bow hunt now.

I have the cloths/boots up to -20. I need to go out and test it. Only been tested to +3 with no issues. Now, the bow might be another issue. Coldest bow tested is +10 with no big issue. I use rubber bands to tighten up the coat arm sleeve. Back in the 70's every winter was very cold and snowy, or at least it seemed that way and what I remember. I know on last Saturday of gun it was +3 in 1987

I need a break. I don't bow hunt after gun/muzzleloader season, just to cold for that. Bow season still in right now.

Other than taking m you daughter out to try for a doe I think I'm done except for maybe a day or 2 during Ohios muzzy season. Usually I don't hunt after muzzy goes out. I figure they've earned the right to live after being hunted that hard and long.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.......................... Didn't realize archery was still a go. Might go out with the x-bow when the weather warms up later on this week.....
Still have to get at least one more. I just might go for 2 and give the 2nd one to our deerless teammate.

The deer are the ones that need a break. The non-stop hunting pressure from about Halloween thru end of muzzy season really knocks down the numbers and puts the stress on those remaining.

The deer are the ones that need a break. The non-stop hunting pressure from about Halloween thru end of muzzy season really knocks down the numbers and puts the stress on those remaining. I think that might all depend on the type of hunting. I've been in a tree stand and watched deer well within range but they had no clue that I was there. No added stress to them. If someone is squirrel hunting in the woods, and walks up to bedded deer, kicking them out of the bed, I think that adds more stress to them than if they were left alone. As for knocking the numbers down, if the harvest numbers are staying within a couple % of the previous years, then to me the numbers are staying relatively stable. If people aren't seeing the deer, maybe the deer have changed their habits and are getting better at avoiding hunters?

They were out in force last night in the corn. Came out of bedding area around 5 and walked down hill to feed field. Watched them from the house. Coming out earlier each night. Amazing how they know when season is winding down.
