One thing that hasnt been mentioned yet......if youre going to start shooting long range......you might as well start looking at reloading presses if you dont already reload. That's very true. If you are planning to take-up shooting at very long distances reloading almost becomes a must. I' am an accomplished reloader of rifle cartridges, been reloading for some 51 years. I reload several cartridges at the present obtaining the best possible loads for various cartridges/calibers I own. This reloading is a very interesting hobby and you learn a great deal from reloading.

Any leads on rifle ranges near Bedford/Bloomington? I have a buddy who is into shooting/handloading that lives on a farm just NW of the HWY 50/446 intersection. I know that he has played around with 800 yards there. I bet if it were a halfway warm day, he'd be up to letting us shoot. I have quite a few long-range spots around my house here in Springville, but to have a good backstop, the shot angles would have to be downward. My laser rangefinder compensates for angle, so being level is not a requirement.

Cool, I am down the road on Greer Lane. Let me know when you are ready My buddy has not texted me back, but I was playing around with Google Earth a moment ago, and I have a safe, relatively flat spot here in Springville that measures 400 yards -- if you have something to shoot off of and a target stand to shoot at. I'd simply verify that the landowner was okay with it first, but I'm sure he would be, as I hunt there (which requires shooting. LOL!) I have spots that I hunt where a guy could probably squeeze out 1000 yards, especially across a valley.

I just sent the landowner a message, and he replied, "No problem. Do as you please."
