I decided to head down to the area where my boy caught the eye last evening. Had to go middle of the day as we have ball games tonight. The wabash did indeed come up as i expected it would so i had to go around the bend this time and fish where the 2 rivers meet but on the eel side. I had one bite on my 3rd cast and this was the result....a 23 inch walleye on a orange twister tail tipped with crawler.

I'd be very tempted to have that one mounted for your son. Congrats to him!!! I thought about it, but he told me he wanted one bigger then i got lol. I had a 27 mounted a few years ago that i got out of the eel in downtown logan. I told him they arent easy to catch in there but he has his whole life to try. I wanted to take a pic and let the fish go, but he wasn't letting that happen, he at least had to take it home to show mom. We ended up fixing both fish for dinner last evening and they were very good. Normally i don't keep the bigger fish to eat but since my son kept his i decided to keep mine to add to it. I just sliced the fillets into thin slices and then removed all the red meat and they both ate like a smaller fish. Very good. Now im out of walleye i better try to catch some more.

Probably wouldn't have lived very long judging by the way you were holding it.

Probably wouldn't have lived very long judging by the way you were holding it. That was mine, i was keeping that one anyway:) Notice my son had perfect technique lol. The one i had mounted a few years ago i actually tried to release and he was not going to survive. Caught it below a small dam in some swift water. Dont know if the fight did him in or what. I stayed after dark for 45 minutes trying to make sure it was going to be alright but didn't think he would survive. He was breathing but would go belly up and i didn't trust letting him go in that swift water like that. Finally just decided to take it home and get it mounted. Havent caught one that big since.

I cant believe it but we did it again. Me and my son caught 2 more walleye tonight, along with 2 smallmouth and 3 white bass. I caught the first one and let him catch the 2nd one. The bigger one was in the same exact hole as the one i caught 2 days ago. Doubt this will last much longer this is the best stretch of eye fishing i have ever had here in the river. The water level is also starting to drop pretty quick on the eel side which will probably move the fish before i can get out next. Here is a pic of the 25 incher. The other one was 17

Thanks, i cant believe the quality of fish coming out of there. Doubt it lasts much longer but i sure have enjoyed it. They only bite in this spot with the perfect water level. With the wabash being high im hoping it will keep some fish in there to get out of the current, we will see.

Got out wed from 12 to 4:45 with a buddy. Could not find them for a good while. Tried in shallow and along were edge, both inside and out side, zilch. Finally found them in 10-12 foot of water 6 foot deep. Again I used worm and twist bobber with no sinker. Got 47 gills 14 of which were 8 in or better. They bit best when the wind was blowing and put a.chop on the water that kept the bait moveing. I also used a 1/16 jig head with artificial minney tipped with a worm tjat did real well.

Hit a lake in a gated community with a friend last night. Caught around 80 to 90 crappie, ring perch, bluegill, and bass. Brought 2 ring perch and 17 crappie home. Biggest was over 14" and I had 6 over 12". Also hooked into something that I never slowed down. All were caught on 16th oz jigs with Bobby Garlands. Females were still full of eggs.

Probably wouldn't have lived very long judging by the way you were holding it. I'd like to see someone lip a walleye bare fingered long enough to have it's picture taken!!!

Same lake last night as Thursday, but only fished about an hour and 45 mins. Caught maybe 30 to 40. Took 14 home from 9.5" to 11.5". Fish were tighter to structure and didn't bite as aggressive.
