Seems like an appropriate time to discuss how folks enjoy the successes of their turkey hunts.
For the past several years I've been plucking, brining and smoking my birds. I really do like the smoked meat, plus makes great turkey salad and pot pies to be frozen for later.
What is everyone's preferred method of eating their wild turkeys?

Cut into chunks like a chicken nugget. Brown them up in a skillet with a dredge of Kentucky kernel,milk and egg wash. Dip them in hot sauce or BBQ or whatever. Put in oven for about 30 mins on 325.
Feed to hungry kids that have been swimming in the pool and it gone in minutes. Me, with a cold beer. Good deep fried in same mix as well.

We slow cook the legs and thighs and use them in a large batch of "chicken tortilla soup". Obviously substituting the chicken. Here is a recipe thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/chicken-tortilla-soup/We just oven roast the breast with any recipe for turkey breast.

Just good ol turkey nuggets. Sometimes marinate in sweet and sour and then dredge in flour and fry. Good stuff!

I didn't know that turkey nuggets were even worth messing with. But I didn't realize they were so big. maybe if all your hunting partners let you have their turkeys nuggets it would be worth frying up a batch

Pound them out flat and you wouldn't believe how good they are. Have some little nugget sliders.

I chunk it up and cook in crock pot, then it's turkey and noodles with mashed potatoes. Best tasting stuff of all the wild game I eat.

Today I am smoking the other breast with apple wood. It was marinated in garlic' herb and wine marinade.

I smoked the breast from my bird last night in apple wood. My wife made her own marinade for it. Then wrapped it in bacon. NO COMPLAINTS.

Questions for you smokers out there. What temp are you smoking breasts at and at what internal temp are you removing breast meat from smoker? I know time will vary based on thickness of meat and grill temp but what's a ballpark cook time? Thanks

I smoked mine at 225. Internal temp of 165.

Smoked mine whole, Smoker at 200, done when at 160, took 4 hours.
