You are right. Wolf spider. Female more specifically. According to Google anyhow. Thanks!

Outside I let 'em be. Inside they're toast.
They do get a lot bigger than that. I've seen several that with legs spread out are as big as the palm of your hand.
When I was first married, I was sitting at the table doing homework in our little shack we rented. I caught movement in my peripheral vision, looked over and saw the largest wolf spider I'd ever seen. It was literally the size of a tarantula, though probably not as heavy-bodied. I tried to catch it in a ball jar to show my wife, who has a phobia of spiders. It escaped behind some furniture; I waited until we moved a year later before telling her about it.

Same here. About the size of my palm, and it was scary due to the size! It got smashed, but my wife was about to crawl out of her skin when we told her. Lol.

Spiders and snakes get a pass. Now wasp and yellow jackets...kill em all Spiders in the house usually get caught and thrown back outside where they can do their job. But yes anything that stinks get the world brought down on them.

This sums it up... Just think of the critters you need to have around to feed a spider that size... Can't have snake or spiders around without bugs and mice around.

When I first moved down to Lawrence county one of my first jobs I was in a basement and there was a wolf spider that I took a picture of besides a dollar bill and it was bigger than the dollar. Asked the customer what it was and she said, just a wolf spider. Asked they always that big around here, yep. Took a picture of it and the dang thing tried to attack me, swear it was going for my throat. Needless to say they got their house wrapped with cable and didn't go through the crawl space. Spiders I can deal with. Spiders the size that'll drag the house cat away, nope.
And while I'm on a rant here. Right before I go into your crawl space I'd appreciate not telling me you pulled a copperhead out of the opening the day before. Just something I don't need to know.
