It'll help, especially the adjustable cheekpiece. But the same can be done by you with any stock if you don't mind drilling 2 holes in a wood stock and slapping a piece of plastic on top of it. LOP can be adjusted with spacers and different butt pads.

LOP can be adjusted with spacers and different butt pads. I've been using foam and camo duct tape on my stocks for years. Cheap, quick and effective. Vastly improves cheek weld and helps accuracy.

One thing I could see it being good for would be to vary the fit for a kid. As he/she grows, you just make the adjustments.
It could also be used as a way to share a rifle if you wanted/needed to.

I get the idea and I'm sure it works, but man I'm getting weary of all of these black plastic, Daisy BB gun quality rifles. Wish the manufacturers would make more nice wood stocked stuff.

I like a firearm with a beautiful wood stock but would rather have a composite stock for hunting that can take some abuse.

Keep thinking about getting a nice stock from boyds for my 30-06. Like the others while no doubt the wood looks better I like being able to take the synthetic out and not worry about it. I have been considering picking up a laminate from Boyd's for my Savage 30-06. But it shoots fine as is and it would add a little weight to it

I've thought for a long time that most "standard" size rifles are too long of pull for the average guy (whatever that is). I know my Ruger M77 is a bit long for me. You don't notice it at the range when you have just a shirt or light jacket, but when you have all your hunting clothes on it can be an issue. If the new Savage system allows something on the short side of standard, then I think it's a great idea. My 358 Hoosier is built on a youth model Savage 110, and it's a perfect fit when I have a few layers on.

So if you like pretty wood rifles, but don't want to use them for hunting, what do you use them for? I hunt with mine and they hold up fine. Might get a nick or scratch here or there over time, but that just gives them character and you'll probably remember the hunt it occurred on. Wood and blued finish was the standard up until the 1970's and the old timers used their guns probably a whole lot more and harder than we ever will.

Not sure about "new". Been around in trap shooting for years.

A 14" length of pull is fine during the Summer months when shooting, but come hunting season, with heavy clothes and maybe a pack on, it's too long for me and as such, while I'm way past being a "youth", that sized gun just fits me better...
