Now that Indiana allows basically any deer rifle (on private land at least), what is the rifle you want but don't have?
Mine is a Remington Model 14 or 141 in 35 Winchester. I'm a big fan of the designer, and there's just something about the feel of a gun from that era of US firearms manufacturing that you don't experience when you pick up a new gun.
If anyone has hunted with one of these guns, I'd like to hear about your experiences.
Ok, so what deer rifle do you want?

After much consideration,I decided on the Ruger American in 308. So far,it has been everything I hoped for. I love it!

It would be a lever gun in pistol cartridge. Probably an ammunition that is cheaper and easy to locate.

There's really nothing I want. Good as is. For Indiana, ditto. .243 Win in a Browning A bolt Mountain Ti works great with an 85g Barnes TSX bullet @ 3300 fps. So far, every deer hit died. <20 yds to over 220 yds.

I can't justify needing another but an ar in 308 would be it.

Am waaayyyy past the need part, almost same with the WANT part too. Guess I will stick with wanting to try a Tikka T3 Lite or superlight. I have several TC Encores, and they are ok weight wise. But I have handled esshup's lightweight Browning, and it would be a real pleasure to tote around, so thinking I will try that route next, someday.

I've wanted a 141 for years, I just can't find one in nice condition that I can afford. An old time woodsman and friend owned one when I was a kid and I've had the hankering for one for many years. There are always several on Gun Broker but the nice ones go high. Another pick would be the Ruger American in 450 Bushmaster. I don't need either my old 1964 Marlin in 35 Remington is plenty good enough, but a guy can never have too many rifles.

Jimstc that gun is beautiful I would not want to take it into the woods for fear of dinging the wood though.

Jimstc that gun is beautiful I would not want to take it into the woods for fear of dinging the wood though. Just empty and render inoperable then tie to dogs collar let him run in backyard or woods when he gets back talk to him about scuffing the gun up and how it’s not the right thing to do. Then you don’t have to feel bad or beat yourself up for putting the first scratch.

Yeah best way to get me to accidentally tear something up is tell me how much you like it and don’t want me to put a scratch on it
