Budd;I don’t think it’s the guns faultI !!its a powder /Bullet bad combination ,possibly a bullet designed to expand at higher velocities 100 FFF with 250 gr bulled should be around 2000 FPS Or maybe little faster What bullet ? I don’t think it was fast enough to expand

Think he's saying it's a TC bullet.
Don't know which one, but I do believe it's a ML bullet, designed for ML velocities. There will always be cases of bullets not acting as they're supposed to. I'm surprised with this bullet; however, looks like you could re-use it.

Wow, That's crazy to see that. Load it up and send it again.

I think it’s a Barns bullet made to be at optimal performance at 2000 + FPS somehow that was not reached I’m guessing

I don’t think it was fast enough to expand Didn't mean for it to sound like the guns fault, I was talking about the bullet performance. T/C Shockwave, 250gr bonded core. The client owns SEVERAL local farm supply stores and is a gun dealer. He said he is not happy at all with the performance of this bullet. It could just be a fluke....but it's like the rage broadhead's I've heard some say they don't open on impact...the occasional bad performance is still exactly that.

I had a nice doe come in yesterday that was also shot with same design bullet, 50 yard shot, shot in the neck. I did not see a exit hole, will get pics today. Something I have never seen before was the sabot hit the deer in the eye and penetrated!!!!

Doe was hit straight on just under white throat patch, dead center, never broke the neck and apparently bounced back out. Will post pictures this evening.

Dead center of the neck, I would have bet it would have went through the bone but it never.

Neither of those sound like they hit 100 grain fffg velocities. Something is amiss.

Neither of those sound like they hit 100 grain fffg velocities. Something is amiss. I agree. I would really be interested in hearing if they have shot those loads over a chronograph to check the actual velocity. If they haven't, they should. I shoot a few Savage Smokeless muzzleloades (a .45 and .50 cal), and never got good accuracy from the 250g T/C Bonded Shockwave, but the yellow tip regular Shockwave (which is identical to the Hornady SST except for the tip color) has performed very well for me at a MV of 2300 fps. I DID have one not perform as well as I expected (no exit at 165 yds) but that was my fault. I changed lots of powder and didn't run the new lot over the chronograph. It had to be going a lot slower, because bullet impact was 5" lower than with the other lot of powder.

And normally the bonding process softens the lead leading to easier expansion.

From what I understand the shockwave and Hornady SST are the same bullet. About 5 years ago I killed a mature buck using the SST’s out of my Knight. Two shots. Recovered the 2nd bullet and it had expanded well, but the first bullet looked just like that. Quit using them and use the Barnes TEZ 290gr now. The Hunting Public guys had the same thing happen with an SST a few weeks ago too.
