Wow, nice stock!!!
I played the camera game last year. About got me in trouble waiting too long. Everytime I felt down, a nice one would be on cam to cheer me up. Lol

Well, not actually Season Prep, but I did a pond consultation this morning and saw probably 10 does and 3 bucks feeding or standing around. Now I'm starting to get the bug.
Now the pond(s) were on a piece of property that was between 150 and 200 acres in size, and there WAS a fence around the whole thing, but still......... LOL

It's 8/1. Deer season time! Time to check straps, chains, bolts, sticks, and stand. Time to check changes to hunting area and make plans to adjust stand locations. Time to get them out and soft clear lanes. The Joy's of deer season prep.

Right after Labor Day for me still got two trips north to fish before Labor Day In fact ones next week for a few days I really don’t hunt much before Halloween don’t have a lot of ground and I’ve found I burn my spots out if I hunt to early plus I know I’ll squeeze at least one more trip in maybe two after Labor Day to go north to fish My brother ask me if I started getting mail up there yet 😀

I try just on the right days until Halloween week. Maybe week before if temps are right. I plan to get all my stands in this month and then stay out until the best days. I'm lucky to move from Home and two places in Switzerland.

Just did some scouting, pulled and replaced SD cards in cameras and refilled the feeders. Ordered seed yesterday and the farmer is going to till me an acre worth of ground for a food plot.

I got my bow string replaced and shot a few times. Last few weeks have been busy with some traveling. In-laws are coming to visit next week.
Unfortunately, I already feel behind. Hopefully, after company leaves and things get back to normal I can start preparing in earnest. However, it never fails that I find myself scrambling 2-3 weeks before the season.

Been so darn busy haven't had a chance to get my camera out. However on the way to work yesterday I was able to leave a little earlier than normal and put out the camera. I"m sure not in the best place but one where they ran in the past. Will check here in a week/month/year whenever I get a chance to get back out there. I just hate having my wive's "pets" hang around. I want to get rid of them so bad. "Pets"=Student Loans

I finished working on my ground blind above the pond today. I have high hopes for this location. The pond had gotten so over grown with briars and fallen trees that deer could not walk around it or even cross the dam. I've spent a lot of hours cleaning the area up this year and I'm seeing a lot of deer on the trail camera I put down there. The trail into the blind starts from the yard in front of my dad's barn. I should be able to sneak the 100 yards into it without spooking much. I have 3 shooting lanes from the blind. 2 are looking downhill to the pond and one is straight across the hill to a trail heading towards a large oak. This is the same spot I killed my first primitive deer from but I was in a ladder stand. I am hoping to get my first ground kill with a trad bow. Most of the deer I've been seeing on the camera are coming out of a trail and walking in front of one of my shooting lanes. It will be a 10 yard shot to that spot. The trail to the blind The blind. I can step inside this cluster of trees to hide if I need to stay out of sight of a deer. I still need to figure out a seat to use. I like to sit low to the ground. I should stay pretty well hidden unless they come down my trail into the blind with me. I used a dead ash tree, some rocks, and some brush to make it. I like to use natural materials if I can. This is the best shooting window to the pond. Most of the deer on camera cross through this spot on their way to drink. This is the view looking up into that window. I should be pretty well hidden. If they get through that first window I have a second lane to get a shot. And here is the shooting lane straight across the hill. I'll have a 10 yard quartering away shot as they walk up the hill to the oak tree. This guy is standing right in that shooting window. I hope he keeps coming out there during early October.

Helped a friend put up a ladder stand yesterday, and put a couple cams out at my parents' place Saturday.
Hopefully will be able to get out one evening this week and get my other tower up at the in-laws' house.

My daughter and I went a qualified for a local deer reduction program yesterday. Had to out 4 out of 5 arrows in a 10 inch circle at yards. We'll scout our area here in the next week or so. Our session is Nov. 23 to Dec. 17. As far as Indiana goes I'm down to 1 private spot this year and public. We'll start walking and marking areas on the public this week.

Checked the cam behind the house, those two 125"-ish bucks are still coming through.
Also got my clearance muzzleloader from last year sighted in about 4" high at 75 yards, will final zero at probably 150 when I get a chance to shoot a bit further. I'm currently shooting 100 grains of BH209 with 270 grain Federal Premium bullets, their version of a Powerbelt. May tweak it a bit but seems to be shooting well for now. My ML hunt in KS is just 5 weeks away.

I’ve never done food plots before, but I mowed, sprayed, and today just tilled a small spot in the woods on our property to throw out some clover and see what happens. Hoping that enough comes up to make it worth it. Just need some rain and I’ll throw the seed down just before that happens. Be a nice little kill spot for the kids if it comes up. Already had some really nice tracks in it the day after I mowed.
