Seems like with the rona virus and labor shortage, the processors in Southern Indiana, specifically vanderburgh and Gibson counties are few to nil. I don’t mind doing my own but only if it’s cooler out. Anyone else seeing this trend?

Its handy for me for sure..Yep. Very happy with the work they do and the convenience of them being so close. Their deer sausage is also better than dew8gs and Merkley's in my opinion.

Only reason I'm stuck trying to find another is the awesome local amish butcher I've used for years had a fire and is still unsure if they'll rebuild or not.

Good game processors are few and far between. I've had more bad experiences with them than good, so don't take any chances with it anymore and process my own. No question about the quality of the work, and I know what I'm getting is mine, and done in a clean and sanitary manner.

I'm lucky in that I have a good one. Will be meeting him tomorrow to get some honey and talk about the upcoming season.

I know of two in Posey co. don't know if they will be working this year, but I do my own. I have bought all the equipment a few years back & have done my own ever since. If you are having a hard time finding processors you may need to look into doing your own, even if it is only to the point of breaking it down to the quarters, then let a person that has the equipment to do your follow up cutting & grinding. I don't have a walk-in but I do have an old running refrigerator that I age the deer quartered out.

Both processors in Posey do a pretty good job in my opinion, Goebel and Ruttledge are both family ran so I think they'll both be open.

Geneo's in Lafayette does a fantastic job and has some of the best summer sausage and hot Italian sausage I've ever had. Reasonable prices to boot. Been using him for years.
I've done my own in the past, but will gladly pay Geneo when I can.

The “word” out there is, Little Buck in Mooresville will be taking deer. I don’t know what the outcome was with the FBI investigation this past Spring, but apparently it will not prevent them from operating. Anybody else heard a word about them?

I remember there being a story about them. I don't live anywhere close to them but IIRC I would shy away from that one if there were other options in the area.

Still can’t find any updates on that story. I wouldn’t think it actually had to do with the processing of deer or they wouldn’t be doing it again. They make some great hot summer sausage and deer brats.

I guess my point is there's something sketchy going on somewhere, for me, I'd like to see that sorted out before I'd jump in on getting my deer done there.

Speaking of processors, I've been looking for one near Ft Harrison State Park. Two buddies and I got drawn for both hunts, so you're hopeful we'll at least get 2-3 deer. Anyway, I haven't had much luck finding a processor near the park. I would even been happy to find someone with a cooler we can put them in assuming it's not cool enough outside. You never know about temps in November. Any ideas? Thanks for the help!
