My wife selling my gear for what I told her it cost!
Simple minds don't worry about much. Figure ain't much I can do about it.

Hospitals, medical people who think they OWN you because you consulted them on something for ADVICE. Getting cataract surgery, worse is having cataracts. Going blind or getting cut up a piece at a time.
Worst of all would be getting old and dependent with a pack of democrat childmen in charge of everything.

Leaving my youngest son before he is enough of a man to do it on his own.

Not so much getting old but leaving things unsaid and undone. I was told by the ER doctor who treated me in June for anaphylactic shock caused by alpha-gal that I was as close to death as a person can get with out dying if that makes sense. I plan on living a long life but dying doesn’t scare me anymore, it’s part of life.

Onebentarrow That is caused by a tick bite and makes you allergic to mammal meat, milk, cheese. Anything but chicken or fish. My reaction was severe almost causing my death. Passing out repeatedly, fell broke my nose and head cuts. Swelled my eyes shut and my tongue blocking my airway. Only reason I survived was given Epi pen by ambulance paramedics.

There is no cure but it might decrease over time. I’m ok either way, only thing I miss is my deer meat but I still hunt and give the meat away.

I'm 50 and blind in one eye from glaucoma. None of four specialists that I have spent time and $$ with have been able to figure out why I have it, why at an abnormally young age, or why in one eye only.
I've always said that the alternative to getting old really sucks, so enjoy life while you can.
I have a different perspective on work and retirement than some. I have no interest in pinching pennies for 40 years so I MIGHT be able to live in luxury for a few. My wife and I work hard, live within our means, and enjoy life. I buy whatever I want within reason and so does my wife. The kids have been given a proper upbringing and guidance. If they screw it up, that's on them. I hope to be able to leave them a little cash, but I've told them not to depend on an inheritance as income.
Regular exercise, sensible diet, and quality beer have served me well so far. I'll stick with that plan until it doesn't work anymore!

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ At about 15 I resigned myself to the idea that I would never see 20. I had lost several friends and family members under the age of 19 and our lives basically mirrored each other's. Once I got there I truly did not know what I was supposed to do. Kids, married, divorced, kids through school, college, off on their own and rapidly pushing 30. I'm now half way through my third 20 years and again am finding I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do. I muddle through and share what experience I have acquired with new rounds of kids every year through Hunter Ed and NASP. I try to introduce people to camping, fishing, and hunting as much as possible. And I spend entirely too much energy trying to keep a company on the rails and headed in a positive direction. But, there is the blue and silver thing that has a special spot in the garage. There is something about wind and bugs at high speeds that just keeps the blood flowing. Yes, like Essup, I fear not "going" fast.

My biggest fear is becoming a burden to my loved ones. My biggest regret is not doing more with my wife before she left this world. Everything else doesn't matter much to me, it's out of my hands.

My son married his wife knowing she has Usher Syndrome. It affects hearing and vision. At 27 she is legally Blind. Her hearing is bad. She can see but has tunnel vision. She has long ago given up driving. Relying on my son and Uber for transportation. These two are my real life heros. Her future is not bright. Although her vision and hearing are stable I know how fast time flies. One can imagine losing their sight or even being blind but to lose both is a terrifying thought. My wife's cousin had Cystic fibrosis. She passed at 31. A friends daughter has cerebral palsy. She faces a lifetime of wheel chairs. It is not just the sons and daughters that suffer. The parents, spouses, and childern suffer too. May God bless and protect your families. And do not forget those so less fortunate than you this Holiday. Merry Christmas www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/conditions-and-diseases/usher-syndrome#:~:text=Usher%20syndrome%20is%20a%20disorder,problem%20is%20called%20retinitis%20pigmentosa.

I don't mind getting old. Yes, a lot of dislikes, but no fear of getting old. It's just the opposite. I know I'm getting closer each day re-meeting our Lord and being in Heaven. All three sons are on their own. One with a house and this year 2nd one plans to buy a house. Youngest will get engaged this or next year. June 1st, I'm going part-time and only go into the office one day a week. If HR says no, then I will retire at end of June. I'll be 63 and have been working since I was 11 years old. My neighbor paid me $3.50/hr. way back in 1972. Minimum wage was $1.68. Cut grass, put out the garbage can, trim bushes, rack leaves, and any other yard projects. Sometime inside home projects to help him. I have RA and I hurt all year long, so I'm used to it must time. It started at age 13. Only bad part is when I cut myself and I have no clue where. I have to follow the blood trail on me.
