I just finished cleaning and reassembling the rifle. I've now got the action working as smooth as butter. Quite a beautiful rifle for its year. And I mounted the Lyman sight. Now I need to get it to the range and test her out.

Did you find reasonable priced ammo yet? So far, I haven’t really looked for any ammo. The rifle came with two boxes of Remington. Once I can get to the range, I’ll shoot that and then I’ll see where I go from there.

After some research and reading, I discovered that the rifle is a Model 99, EG manufactured in 1948.

Beautiful rifle in a great caliber. I passed on one like it years ago at the old Whittaker's because someone had shortened the stock and then added a piece of blond wood to bring it back to length. I often think about that old rifle.

Prices at ammoseek start at about $50 for a box of 20 rounds. And you'll pay shipping on top of that.

I often think about that old rifle. Would’ve never let that bother me. I would’ve sold the stock on eBay and look for another. IF the price was right…

I keep checking back for the range report. Hopefully I'm back home in a few weeks to get to the range. If something doesn't change in the next month, I'll be from Pennsylvania to Iowa, down to Arkansas and then back to Cleveland. Weekends? What the heck is that? I'm trying to figure out how and when I can get home for a day just to wash some clothes! Dang company better get me some guys to train because I ain't gonna play this game much longer.

Don’t Blame you High Cotton
I had my own consulting business after I retired from Alcoa and was on the road almost continuously. It got real old, real fast. Money was great but it wasn’t worth it. After a couple years I hung it up for good and haven’t looked back.
I wish you the best no matter what you do.
