My miss was not the scope. It’s my right eye. My macular degeneration is screwing up the crosshairs bad. Hard time describing it but all the lines are now squiggly. It used to be just the crosshairs and now it’s also the Diamond lines that I always center the turkeys head in. I really had to bear down and move the gun around until it looked as even as it could on the target. In the case of shooting AT the turkey it had to be a lot quicker as he was feeding popping his head up and down. I might have to learn to shoot left handed or maybe try a red dot. Or quit altogether. Getting old ain't for sissies..

But at least I have a nice big yeti full of coffee. I should have brought my thermos to the blind! Snacks (lots) and a big thermos of coffee is a must have for blind hunting..

Text for the Day -- Daniel 6:1-4, 6-7, 10-12 ---------- It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom one hundred and twenty satraps, stationed throughout the whole kingdom, and over them three presidents, including Daniel; to these the satraps gave account, so that the king might suffer no loss. Soon Daniel distinguished himself above all the other presidents and satraps because an excellent spirit was in him, and the king planned to appoint him over the whole kingdom. So the presidents and the satraps tried to find grounds for complaint against Daniel in connection with the kingdom. But they could find no grounds for complaint or any corruption, because he was faithful, and no negligence or corruption could be found in him.
So the presidents and satraps conspired and came to the king and said to him, 'O King Darius, live for ever! All the presidents of the kingdom, the prefects and the satraps, the counsellors and the governors, are agreed that the king should establish an ordinance and enforce an interdict, that whoever prays to anyone, divine or human, for thirty days, except to you, O king, shall be thrown into a den of lions.
Although Daniel knew that the document had been signed, he continued to go to his house, which had windows in its upper room open towards Jerusalem, and to get down on his knees three times a day to pray to his God and praise him, just as he had done previously. The conspirators came and found Daniel praying and seeking mercy before his God. Then they approached the king and said concerning the interdict, 'O king! Did you not sign an interdict, that anyone who prays to anyone, divine or human, within thirty days except to you, O king, shall be thrown into a den of lions?' The king answered, 'The thing stands fast, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which cannot be revoked.'
Devotional ---------- Daniel was set up but God destroyed the scheme to destroy Daniel. Again, the story of Daniel demonstrates God's care for his faithful witnesses. Not all witnesses have been spared. Many died and we name them martyrs - people who died because they would not renounce God or Jesus. God depends on believers to carry his message of eternal life forward from generation to generation. It is now our turn.
Prayer ---------------- Help me respond when moments to witness are given to me, Lord. Amen

Going to Red Brush Rifle Range in the morning to see what is what. Is it the scope or me? That is the question..
I'm thinking the scope is about 20 years old. So who knows...

Don't take it for granted you wont get a tick on you after spraying with Permethrin. I've been home a couple hours and just felt one crawling on my scalp. Still look yourself over after you get out of the woods.

I don't know what happened but I just missed a nice one. No more than 35 yards. This scope has to be off. My grandson has been using it. My grandson missed one two years ago but it was 50 yards and it was Grandson. My fault for not taking it to the range this year. Things got in the way, but that is no excuse This bird had a nice bushy beard and a lot of red and some blond looking coloring on him. A beautiful bird. This is the first bird I've missed ...ever. That hurts. Don't worry WOODY you will get over it in about 8-10 years. Lol..I appreciate your condolences and advice…

I ended up putting one of my extra slings on the gun doubling up.
It worked pretty decent.
I do love my hiking sticks! They help a lot in walking.

Just had a gobbler come out of the pines right by the blind. He saw the decoys and didn't like them so he circled around a brush pile and went back into the pines. His beard was pencil thin so I never even reached for the gun.
