Looks like a good program to back. I'll be buying of of those nice looking pins for each of the kids and donating a deer or two myself.
I have donating before .But that's were they getting the money (Sportsmans Benevolence Fund). for the sharp shooters to kill the deer at Griffy lake Nature Preserve. will not let the hunters come in and do it.just saying
Can you please verify this? I thought all the money went towards providing funds for deer processing and that Griffy Lake was a City of Bloomington property.

SB198 - allows out-of-state disabled vets to purchase hunting licenses at same rate as residents. SB275 - sets aside 30% of each state forest as "old forests" and prohibits DNR from managing those areas SB312 - sets aside "wild areas" in 13 state forests and prevents DNR from managing those areas. SB313 - Requires that, before a permit, lease, or contract is issued to a person to remove merchantable timber, the person must secure a written approval from all counties in which any truck to be used in the removal operation is to be driven.
SB20 - deer hunting SB26 - cold beer sales SB103 - English as official language SB111 - prohibited equipment on firearms (bump stocks, etc) SB120 - makes use of telecommunications devices while driving a felony
I'm sure some more entertaining bills will appear in the weeks to come.

Hmmm, Advisory Council another improvement to the rifle rule. I can only guess that the discussion on the timber buyers license has something to do with the Indiana Forest Alliance bringing in someone to outbid the timber buyers to thwart the last timber sale.
Sarah - I follow several different issues at the DNR. Foremost right now is the forestry issue and the flim-flam being orchestrated from Monroe County. Their goal is halt all logging on all state properties effectively ending all authority of the Division of Forestry. I often describe myself as a grouse hunter and just got another puppy. Gamebirds in Indiana are really quite poor. We kill 120,000+ deer each year in the state but only around 20,000 pheasants. Quail are in serious decline. There are a few woodcock passing through Indiana from the north but the flights only last a short time. With birds so bad you'd be surprized at the number of bird hunters in this state. The national headquarters for many bird hunters is in Amo, IN. The National Shoot To Retrieve Association (NSTRA) holds many trials and awards many national and regional titles each year. In fact I just remembered that the DNR in conjunction with Pheasants Forever is sponsoring a Ladies Hunt on November 18th @ Atterbury Fish & Wildlife Area. I can get you into the hunt or in contact with the gentleman running that hunt. Pheasants Forever in Indianapolis is focused on introducing youth and women into bird hunting. To that end we have several opportunities for non-hunters and beginning hunters to get behind some incredible bird dogs each year.
Someone mentioned the legislature. I follow them closely from December until they shut down. Sometimes they even need watching during the summer sessions. Recently the legislature has decided they could introduce high power rifles into Indiana when the DNR would not. Well, they screwed that up royally. Speaking of the DNR they have regular meetings every other month with their oversite committee the Natural Resources Commission. Their next meeting is next Tuesday at Ft. Harrison.
I could go on and on but just contact me and we'll go from there.
Btw, THANK YOU to everyone that called, emailed or somehow complained. This never would have got fixed if not for all the attention it received
It was the old squeaky wheel that finally got to them....
I'm still not sure it is 100% legal, but Ill bet that the governor blessed it...
I can't believe that an emergency order signed by an agency director trumps the legislature. I am happy for those the law affected but I doubt this is legal. Hopefully no one challenges the emergency order which expires before next season.
