Any traditional deer rifle is the most accurate for the money. I like the Remington 700 in .243 configuration. I have heard some AR 's are not accurate like a Ruger M15. Get a good name brand scope. 22-250 and .223 would also be good, .308 is overkill.

Kdog, I own rifles chambered in .223, 22-250, and 243 Winchester. Of the three, I favor the .243 Winchester for coyotes here in central Indiana. If shooting factory ammunition, I shoot Federal Premium 85 Grain Sierra BTHP's. I also reload and shoot the same bullet at 2900 FPS. Because a coyote may approach your stand from about any direction, you will find that you need a rifle that is easy to swing, and is of a sufficient power level to knock a coyote down even with a somewhat poot hit. I would also suggest that you get a rifle with no more than a sporter weight barrel. Lighter barrels swing much easier and carry much easier, than varmint weight barrels. My second favorite coyote caliber would be a .22-250. Again chambered in a sporter weight rifle. I own a couple of .223 chambered rifles, and have been disappointed in their perfomance on large Indiana coyotes. With few exceptions, the coyotes I've shot with .223's will spin before maybe going down. Some have spun and run, then maybe gone down. Some have spun and been shot again. Some have been knocked down, only to get up and leave. I'm not bashing .223's, as I really enjoy shooting them. They just don't seem to kill coyotes as well as the .22-250 and .243. At least for me anyway. My .243 rifle is a wood stocked, blued steel rifle. I love it on nice days. My .22-250 is stainless steel with a synthetic stock. This is the rifle I can use everyday no matter what the weather. Often it will be snowing or raining when you want to call coyotes. A stainless synthetic rifle is a great all weather tool. Coyote 6974 Not that I completely disagree, but what bullet weight were you using?? I could definately see that with a 45 or 55 gr bullet, but with a 68 or 75gr, in a 1:8 or 1:7 barrel, I'd think .223/5.56 would be pretty decent... Mike

The pictures that I've found that have anything about "M15" on them, are basically a tacti-cooled up Mini-14... They make the "SR-556" as an AR-pattern rifle, but it's not a direct-gas rifle, but is a piston AR... www.ruger-firearms.com/products/sr556/index.htmlArmalite makes a rifle they call an "M15", though... Really, if you have an inaccurate AR (that's not totally shot out), you need to work on different loads, or buy better ammo... I've never seen one that wouldn't do less than 3MOA on a bench, with good ammo... Or at the very least, a reload that it likes... Yes, 3MOA isn't great (most of the ones i've seen are <2MOA weapons, but I've never seen one more than 3), and certainly not "bolt action" good, but it's "minute of yote" if you're less than 150. FWIW, my 24" 1:8 J&T bull barrel kit rifle with my 75gr reloads has done 0.6MOA with a 10-round group at 100yds (but is more consistaly a .8 or 1MOA weapon, with 10 rounds, but that's more than likely shooter error), and even my 16" CMMG midlength chrome lined 1:7 upper, with a non-free floated barrel is good for <2MOA with my 75gr reloads and the stock 8# trigger... Here is my 2 cents worth. I shoot our stock M4 and have no trouble shooting 1" groups at 50m with iron sights. I think they are super easy to shoot and even easier to maintain. If you are looking for a decent quality AR try the DPMS/Panther website. i think they start under $800 in 5.56mm(.223). I would further the comment that if you are not knocking down a dog with a 556 it is the load issue and not the caliber. On a side note DPMS is making a AR chambered in .338 Federal now so.....if anybody has a couple grand laying around and wants to buy old SSG B an early Christmas gift feel free ; )

That .223 will get the job done. On my search for the same, I fell for the black rifle, now it's camo and I've acquired a few more. I really like the AR platorm, my .22LR might be my favorite at the moment. Here's the yote gun
