A huge Thank You to Timex and Woody for the Youth Hunt this year. Steph was a little discouraged toward the end of blind time this morning, but smiling and happy for the experience and that she'll get the chance to come back next year. I had a great time in camp and loved having the chance to put faces to names. Congratulations to the successful hunters. Haven't heard a report on Kishla yet..... Dave, I don't know what the "official" name of that desert is, but Stephanie and I decided it is now named "Death by Twinkie". Thanks to all the camp help this weekend. I would call everyone out, but I am terrible at names. I'm afraid that even if I remember you being there I won't remember your name. Good luck to all the kids the rest of the year, and of course good luck to all the mentors.

I'm plumb tuckered out but had a blast with the youngins again this year. It was great seeing the returnees & cutting-up with them since they were not near as bashful this year. The newbies were alot of fun & looking forward to their return. I was glad to see more girls participating this year. There were a lot of of real-life deer hunting lessons learned this year by the youth, which is what this annual event is all about. Thanks to Joe & Lea for preparing all of the fine meals for the campers. A big thanks to Tom for providing sleeping quarters for those that needed it & hosting this hunting lease event "free of charge" for the kids & their mentors and allowing the youngins to take a buck or a doe "as it should be" for a true youth hunt. Kudos to Woody for doing all of the tireless behind the scenes work to bring this all together as it gets bigger & better each year. And last but not least a big thanks to Terry Fitzgerald, Mrs. Fitzgerald, & his video crew for donating their time to make this a special event for the youngins before, during, & after their hunts. The individual interviews with the youth & their parents / mentors was an awesome experience for them. The video crew worked tirelessly the whole weekend to get some great unedited footage. Lord willing. See ya all next year!

As it was last year this year was GREAT!...only bigger.
I've got some catching up to do and then I'll post what I can about the hunt.
I will say that the young lady hunters made a great accounting of thmselves.
They took 3 out of the top 5 places in the crossbow shooting contest.
They took 2 deer with one being a nice fat 4 pointer.
We are still on the trail of another buck that was shot by a young lady hunter. Tim Zoll will have his bloodhound tracking service up there today. His recovery rate is 83% so we have high hopes of getting that deer.
One young man took down a nice 6 pointer opening morning.
As it stand now we took 3 deer - 2 bucks and a doe. ALL first time kills!!
We had a couple of misses and a grazing shot on a doe.
One severe case of buck fever (something we have all a had) prevented one shot.
Everyone saw deer.
Thanks to all that came out and helped make this possible..
More later....

I would also like to thank Woody and Tom for putting on this hunt it was the weekend that we had looked forward to all year. And already waiting for next year. I would also like to thank everyone that helped track kishlas deer every thing that we went through no one gave up it was the most dedicated thing that I have ever seen. And a special thank you to tom for going the extra mile to hire the dog to come and try to recover it, and even though we did not recover it kish said she will not forget all that you did for her.

I would like to thank Tom and Woody for putting on such a great hunt and every one else involved. Me and Hannah had a great time. I'm thankful my daughter enjoys the outdoor hunting and shooting activities with me. Whether it be a longbow, gun or oh yah, a crossbow. We had a blast. It was sure nice to come down from Michigan and get such a warm hospitality of welcomeness into this years youth deer camp. Hannah and I got to see a bunch of animals and it was a great experience. Thanks again to every one for a great time. Gerry Z.
