Good Luck to all the youths, mentors and camp helpers this weekend!
I am sure you all already know, but you are a special breed!
You are creating memories that will last a life time and helping to recruit the next generation of deer hunters...................hats off and god bless to you all !

Stephanie said she hopes everyone gets a chance at a deer at camp. Good luck to all the hunters this year from my family. Remember that the taking of an animal is the reason we hunt, but it is never the deciding factor as to why the hunt is so special. Soak up the nature around you, bast in the love and giving of all the very special adults you will be surrounded by, and just enjoy the event that deer camp is.
We will be in the woods as much as possible between football and FFA. I hope to be able to report success and look forward to see the reports of success from camp.
Have a great weekend!

We just got packed up and ready to go... We got a cross country meet and softball practice tomorrow morning but after that we get to hit the woods. It's funny I get more excited for these kids then I do the normal seasons. Going to be a restless night lol. Good Luck and Be Safe!

The rain going out this morning wasn't bad but it didn't take long before it picked up and the wind got to be a problem. I figured the odds were not good but I told Johnny we had a chance if it would slow down. Sure enough 15min or so after it lighted up I heard behind us what sounded like a deer. Johnny was watching the opposite sides of the blind and I had him switch side and as soon as he did a buck comes out and stops about 25yds out in front of the blind, we both froze and he settled down and made the shot. The deer dropped in place like it had been hit with a hammer; he made a shoulder hit with a slightly quartering toward angle. He twitched once as we exited the blind and that was that. Johnny couldn't be more thrilled and his mom is very excited for him as well. Thanks to all who make this possible; His parents and I are are going to split the cost of a shoulder mount so he will have his first deer on his first deer hunting weekend for posterity.
