www.14news.com/clip/13985150/coyote-attack-on-terrier-caught-on-surveillance-video Coyote attacks dog in owners back yard. Keep your little dogs inside and safe. The owners wife came out and scared the coyote away before it could kill the little dog. We had a story about coyotes in a Henderson, KY subdivision killing pet dogs in the area. The city called in a trapper and the trapper claims to have trapped 13 coyotes so far in just under a couple of days. I'd like to see all 13 of the carcasses as proof of that claim. I question the numbers that the trapper is telling the news media. Are coyotes that easy to trap out of the same pack? I would have thought that the pack would get smart after the first few are trapped as all the traps are in the same general area. But it's great news if they actually did trap and remove 13 different coyotes. The video I posted above was from an Area is the Chicago, IL area. But it can happen anywhere there are little family dogs and coyotes. Little dogs don't stand a chance against a wild coyote.

Yep, "Forest Preserve" are large park like areas on the outskirts of a number of Chicago area suburbs. No hunting or trapping allowed.

Those Westhound white terriers are tough, solid little dogs but that coyote was not having any problem kicking its ass.

It Doesn't look like any Dog died to me....I did see a attack though! sorry I got the two stories mixed up a bit. The dogs that were killed were in the Henderson Suburbs and there is no video of that event. Just people hearing lots of coyotes in the area and seeing them in the neighborhoods. Then there was a missing dog so people assumed it was killed by the coyotes. The second incident shows a video of a small dog being attacked by a coyote. This event happened in Northern IL near Chicago. I added this video to shows you how fast a coyote can attack a little dog and do a lot of damage. If the lady had not scared the coyote away it would have killed that little dog and ate it for supper. The dog is very lucky to still be alive. Have any of you guys seen people using COYOTE DECOY DOGS to hunt coyotes? Do a google search for coyote hunting dogs and watch the videos that pop up. There are certain breeds of dogs that are used to bring the coyotes back to the hunter so that the hunter can shoot the coyotes. It's a very effective way to hunt coyotes if you have a properly trained coyote hunting dog. The dogs chase the coyotes and then the coyotes chase the dogs.

Those Westhound white terriers are tough, solid little dogs. That coyote was not having any problem kicking it's ass. It's amazing to me how fast and tough a wild coyote is compared to a domesticated dog. Wild coyotes have springs in their legs and can run fast. The bound around so easily and can jump pretty high too. Check out google.com and do a search for coyote dogs and see some domesticated dogs trying to run around with the wild coyotes. You can see how much faster the coyotes can run even from some well trained hunting dogs. Regular pets that don't have to hunt their own food are so slow compared to a wild coyote that hunts daily for it's food.

On the other hand, there are guys out West (well, West of here) that use dogs to catch coyotes. I guess it all depends on what the domesticated dogs were bred to do. Catching coyotes with dogs

They call them Coyote Decoy Dogs. The dogs run out and the coyotes chase them. The decoy dogs lead the coyotes back to the hunter and the hunter shoots the coyote. Rinse and repeat. The coyotes will chase the decoy dogs ever time. They are very territorial. I've watched some videos on YouTube where guys filmed their coyote decoy dogs in action and put the videos on YouTube. Pretty cool

I didn't catch what you were saying in the first post and didn't watch the video until after reading your second post. I've seen that video before. And it's awesome how they use those dogs to chase down the coyotes. That's definitely a way to take out some coyotes. I had forgotten about those videos on youtube. Thanks for posting.

I hadn’t watched that catch video until now. That’s pretty wild. Greyhounds - not just for chasing rabbits!!! It looks like they killed the coyote too. Once they are let out of the truck, they sure do leave the truck in their dust in a hurry!!!
