Back in the "glory years" I personally saw several unbelievable bucks inside the Army Ammunition Plant in Newport Indiana. If you were ever in there, you know what I mean,if you weren't, you wouldn't believe me if I told you. I worked there when the name was Newport Chemical Depot 2006-2009. Some monsters viewed and killed there. One of the coworkers, on my last hunt there, called me as I left, stating he just shot a buck that was with 3 or 4 others but he thought it was the biggest one. After seeing it I said Mike if there was anyway the others were close that was a heck of a herd. See if I can find the pic I have a buddy that has a farm in Vermillion Co. Him and his brother consistently kill big deer year after year.

My brother's buck last year was the biggest killed and recovered by any of my immediate family. 9 pt. Gross 157", net 147". Taxidermist is waiting on tannery to get fully caught up on hides, it might be 2 years before we get him back. Note I said it's the biggest killed and recovered. My dad back in 2009 had trouble seeing sights on his muzzleloader properly and got major buck fever with a huge 14 pt Buck in front of him. He hit the deer in the front end, but not a killing shot. Deer must have died of the wound or infection, a Purdue grad student found it's skull the next year. We have pics of Dad holding the head, it's a pretty massive animal. Not sure what it would have scored, but it definitely would have been way up there. Biggest deer he's ever had a good chance to shoot.

This is the biggest I ever saw in a hunting situation. About 7 years ago I saw a deer about 1 mile from the house that looked about as big and with binocks from the car and close to 1/3 mile I counted 15 pts. Never heard if some one got it but it was BIG.

Biggest I seen was in mid 1990's, Fulton county. Seen him in bow season across the field from where I was sitting. He walked past a small finger of brush sticking out into the field off the woods edge. There was one tree in their that would hold my Amacker climber, that evening he came from the same direction and just before he stepped into my one shooting lane I bleated and he stopped with just his head in the opening, as soon as he stepped I bleated again and he stopped with just his hind quarter in the opening. Looking back I should have taken the walking shot at 15 yards, never seen him again.

Biggest bodied deer I ever seen was up here in Minnesota about 10 years ago. Standing broadside in a clear cut at 50 yards, nice rack but his body size is what really caught my attention. As soon as I stepped out of the truck he was gone. That deer Im guessing was pushing 300lbs.

I did a little Internet sleuthing and finally found a North American Whitetail article on the giant velvet buck from Alvin, IL that was taken to the Marshfield, IN taxidermist I used for my high-fence ram and my squirrel. This is the biggest deer I've seen in a long time (last time I saw one this big was in 2015). The pics don't do justice to the rack. Unfortunately the deer had an infected injury so the rack was all the hunter could actually take off the animal. www.northamericanwhitetail.com/editorial/joe-sumner-breaking-news-bucks2023/484028
