Projected crest of 28' here, 30' and it is in my basement that just got redone due to frozen pipes Left this morning about 930 and come back around 430 the river had crested the banks and up in the flood plane, man I need to move.....or at least get a boat! I can hear the rain still pelting the roof

You know, when Ollis was talking about flooding I started wondering how you'd fare.
Good luck.

I can hear the rain still pelting the roof Several years ago I was looking for a house to buy. There was one that I like a lot but didn't buy it because it sat close to a creek. 10 years or so later we had rains that dropped close to 8-9 inches over night and that house had water running in it from the flooded creek. I thanked God that I hadn't bought that house. I'll never buy a house in a flood plain. h.h.

I am pretty sure we will be fine. An interesting bit of flood trivia for Montezuma and I would assume all of the Mid to lower wabash river. Out of the top 20 flood crests the oldest and highest 1913 there are 8 in the past 5 years. If we crest at 28 we will have 9 in the past 5 years in the top 20.
I knew what I was getting into when I bought the place...But I never thought we would be in for so many floods at this magnitude. I researched the flow history and knowing I would only live here 3-5 yrs figured I would be relatively safe just by the probability of having major floods in '03 and '05, both resulted in flooded basement I believe. Cheap house, big yard, mostly remodled before we moved in, quiet area everything I like even the river I like but do get a bit nervous with the floods.

Looks like by radar at least that it should be easing up on the rain up there a little. Dan called me a little while ago and had lost power at the same time that the wind really picked up and their ears were popping...got their kids out of bed and under the staircase. Just heard a few minutes ago that Roachdale, couple miles north of them, had clocked wind speeds up to 89mph! This is two Tuesdays in row for nasty weather...anyone look at next weeks forecast yet?

Yea it got pretty bad here too. Was watching the radar on the Terre Haute station and they were not showing anything up our way then all of a sudden we got hammered. Seriously thought a twister was moving through. Basically same type storm that got us a week ago. Glad to hear Dan and family are OK, this is some wild weather for sure. We are suposed to get a break from it all for a few days anyways.

No pictures, but the Monticello area, on the tippecanoe is getting hammered again. A lot of the homes that got hit on Jan. 8, are going under again. They evacuated homes below Oakdale Dam yesterday. What a mess!

I knew you would be the type to cheat on Angela with another meteorologist. When Angela starts doing the morning forecasts, I'll start watching her in the morning.

This was last evening before I went to work. River was still on the rise and I had to work 6P to 6AM. Wanted to try to slow the water a bit in the lowest point on the levee, that is the few sandbags by the wheel barrow. Last I checked it was up to the brown tuft of weeds just below the sandbags. Crested now, hope it drops fast. That is a little too close for comfort. At this photo the stage was 29.5 feet. Current stage is 30.11 feet. At 30.5 it will breech the levee I believe Here is the data on the top 17 flood crest: Historical Crests (1) 34.00 ft on 03/27/1913 (2) 32.83 ft on 05/20/1943 (3) 32.06 ft on 06/15/1958 (4) 30.89 ft on 01/15/2005 (4) 30.89 ft on 02/26/1985 (6) 30.43 ft on 07/12/2003 (7) 29.98 ft on 01/01/1991 (8) 29.81 ft on 04/15/1994 (9) 29.57 ft on 01/07/1950 (10) 29.31 ft on 02/14/1959 (11) 29.10 ft on 01/16/1950 (12) 27.27 ft on 06/16/2004 (13) 26.74 ft on 01/07/2005 (14) 25.99 ft on 01/17/2007 (15) 25.85 ft on 01/12/2008 (16) 23.25 ft on 01/06/2004 (17) 20.37 ft on 12/04/2006
