Yeah.. We cant leave well enough alone.. Monster fish.. what will be next monster bucks?? They've already cloned higher vertebrates , remember Dolly the sheep ? There's talk of a never ending supply of perfectly developed beef cattle from clone farms . It's not much of a leap from one ruminant to another . Yeah , they'll want freakish Frankenbucks next .

Basically this is caponization/castration for fish instead of poultry or beef. The idea has been around a long time, this is just a new way of applying it.

It should also be pointed out that grass carp have been genetically engineered to be triploid for a long time.

Yup , and the sad part is that with the possibility of CWD wiping out the wild herd someday this technique might be the only way to bring them back .
