Was helping a bddy drag a deer out of his lease land in Vermillion county and noticed he had a lot of dead deer on the property. (found one about every 50 yards along the river)He put in a call to the DNR about it and we met a guy from Purdue that was studying parke and vermillion counties and the effects of EHD. (this was just Thursday we talked to him) and he said that according to his calculations if we don't get a frost soon Parke and Vermillion will lose about 70% of thier deer population.
Also i saw a couple Yotes dragging off a yearling along the creek this morning on my property and I have yet to see a live deer on either one of my properties since opening day.....
Hurry up Jack Frost... where are you at?

Frost can't be too far away for you- I had some light frost Friday morning- roof of my house, grass and on the duck house roof. The house we were working at in Crawfordsville still had frost on the roof at ~8:30 too.
The woman who runs Beautiful Bud's Bait Shop in C'ville told me on Thursday that Dean Zimmerman (district DNR biologist) wants a deer to run tests on, and it needs to have been dead no more than 24 hours. This is what *she* said, so if anyone thinks they might be interested in giving one to Zimmerman, I'd give him a call first.

Hey Woody-question for you-is the DNR going to release a statement concerning what they know so far about this outbreak of EHD?
I read someplace, (and it could have been here somewhere), that one report said that Parke and Vermillian counties could well lose up to 70% of their herd by the time this is all over.
Will they let us know what they know to this point as far as estimated number of deer affected/dead? Outlook for any additional losses? Things of that sort?

If that 70% figure is accurate, YIKES! I hope it's not!
