Anyone know what price to expect if I were to buy a half or quarter of a butchered cow?

I just bought a 1/4 and I think it was right at 400 total. Great beef. I just paid market price.

That looks about right. I found one place that was under $3/pound and others that were over $6 just on a quick internet check.

duff, I think you need to hunt and fish more. : ) Me too, but since I am fresh out of deer and other game, don't really get a hankering for fish too much any more live a heck of a long way from anywhere I need to put something in the freezer... Figure a 1/4 is roughly 90-100#s of meat, that should last my family 4-5 months.

Moody Meats in Ladoga will sell you whatever you want. They`re a little more pricy since their beef is all organic-no steroids or anitbiotics. Steaks melt in your mouth.

I like ribeyes so I buy a whole ribeye at Sanders in Celestine and they cut it the way I want which is 1 1/4 inch thick. It normally runs around 4.50 a pound(depending on the market price) and if they wrap it it is an additional $5. Going to throw a couple on the grill this afternoon.

Our family is getting a whole cow in a week or so and we are paying .80 to .90/lb. I am only keeping 1/4 here, which should be around 300lbs of meat.

You and the wife eat the meat and give the kids the bones and it'll last twice as long. ;D

They will be lucky to get the bones! Reading some of these web sites for grass fed beef and they are wanting up to $3/# just for bones and organ meat...Most were $0.75 for the bones and under $2.00/# of organ meat.

I just bought a whole lamb for .80/lb, as we enjoy the fresh farm stuff but do not have the freezer space.

Look around for some road kill. ;D
We hardly ever buy meat. Venison is much better for you.
