They are starting to move in Jefferson county. I saw two 6 pointers come out into a bean field at 7:30 wednesday night. They never got closer than 125 yards though.
Thursday morning I had two does wind me at 8:30 and run off, then at 9:15 I had two does and two fawns walk right past me. I arrowed one of the does, and after waiting 3 hours I lost the blood trail after about 250 yards.
I HATE losing deer. This was the first one I ever lost.

Don't let losing that deer keep ya down for long. Just get back out there and stick em good next time.

I HATE losing deer. This was the first one I ever lost. It happens to us all. Don't let it be too disconcerting. A problem would only exist if you didn't care.

Went out this last Friday and saw four does in the bean field right at sunset, but never came into the woods. Saturday morning I had 2 does walk in behind me about 40yds, but I didn't have a clear shot and they never angled toward the trail by my stand. I let me better sense tell me to let them walk instead of taking a chance of wounding one of them. It to hot yesterday, but plan on being out this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Was out twice last weekend and saw deer each time, but it was slow. This weekend looks good, but if you have a lot of standing corn in your area you might still see low numbers.

I am hoping this weekend will be good since the weather is really supposed to cool down. I have been out for a total of 4 sittings and I have only saw deer during one of those sits. I am ready for some action to take place.

86 degrees and a full moon makes for lousy deer hunting.

If anyone is into moon phases....11:30am to 1:30pm has been kicking with big moon. Looking forward to middle of next week. Cooler temps and moon phase, should be rocking during the day.

I missed last weekend as I attended a 70th birthday party for my neighbor, but I don't feel that I missed much as I never enjoyed swatting skeeters while on stand anyway. This weekend should get them up and moving with cooler temps finally coming in. I'm starting to get interested.

I have located the does at two of my main hunting spots. They are bedding in the thick stuff and browsing on briars and acorns and are not coming out until the last hour of light. I am afraid to set up any closer to them as I might spook them from their bedding areas. The young bucks are starting to get a little frisky as I have spotted a few rubbing on saplings and kind've pushing each other around. The big boys don't seem to be moving much at all. Hopefully one of these does will wander into one of my shooting lanes as the weather cools. I don't get a chance to hunt the mornings to often but the couple times that I have, I saw deer mostly does in the 8:30-10:30 timeframe. I am ready for that prerut activity that usually starts about the end of Oct.
