I saw on another site where a few people got cards saying they were drawn for a gun hunt there. Is this really possible for that place? Sounds like a typo?

Not worth the time or effort, jmo. Hunt is not run well, imo. Others on here have had better experiences. I think it depends on where you are hunting, expect to get walked on (against the rules) by guys out of their areas if you are near the golf course (there is a reason for that).

For whatever reason there was a mention of firearms in the info sheet that they sent but it is an archery only hunt! This is in Marion county and there are houses all around the boundries of this place. Under "safety" it says "At all firearms hunts a participant must cover outer garments with hunter orange..." I hope someone loses their job over this. I fully expect some people to show up with shotguns now. Why in the h#$% is this even mentioned???

I think it is a general page for all park hunts that is sent out.... kinda like a generic and then they add other pages about your specific area.... or at least that is the impression I got....
Freedom I don't know where my area is yet... it is not on the map... sure hope it is not someones back yard.... Yeah paper said first day in your assigned area... but second day where ever you like.... I think I am just gonna stick to my area for both days.... I figure with all those people crowding in to the good areas they will push the deer out to me.... I hope anyway.
BTW this is post number 1234.... I know I am a dork... but I thought it was cool.

hey Sleaszy E, man you just got drawed for the best area in the park. the "rookery area" is just that, a place where blue herons' nest and raise there young. this area is off limits to the public, which mean no human scent, there is some city utilities in there, but most of the time nobody, you will have a great hunt in there!!!....p.m. me for details................may sure you check with the staff before scouting......................turkey scout

Yep. I grew up in that area and roamed it as a kid back when it was a military base. (wasn't supposed to be in there) That entire area is not hunted (except for this hunt) due to being surrounded by homes. You'll have a good chance at taking a big buck Sleaze. turkeyscout knows the place intimately, so I'd take his advice. Be sure and let us know how it goes.

I just found out that my wifes boss (who is my age) got drawn for the same hunt same dates.... so now at least I will know someone there.....
I just thought of this... do they allow climber stands or do I need to buy another lock on?

I would use a climber so you can move to where the deer are traveling if need be, or move away from someone else.

I got drawn for Dec, first and second and my area is Duck Pond,,hoping that is a good area, not sure if I am going to take my climber or my pop up blind? Leaning more towards the blind for quick concealment.

Hey Sleazy E, I got drawn for the hunt in Nov. as well. My area is Delaware Lake. I know the park a little, but it doesn't show what the area boundries are. I guess I will have to wait and scout before the hunt dates.
Climbers and hang ons are fine to use. No screw in steps can be used. Everything has to be strapped to the tree. If you get any good info for the areas let me know.
