Seen a decent 8pt chasing a doe about 10am. He wouldn't slow down enough for me to get a shot. I should have taken her as she was directly below me

Right now can be slowest part of the prerut. It's like the bucks are in a resting state. This is all gonna change drastically in another week.

I've been out 12 - 15 times and haven't seen a shooter buck yet. All yearlings with only one being a 2 1/2 year old.
I saw 4 bucks this evening. I had three around me for about a 1/2 hour. They were sparring around. Taht was neat to wtach.
It was a 5 pointer, a spike and a half spike. Not sure what happened to his right antler, but there was nothing but pedicule there.
The 5 pointer was dominant.

I had three does under the ladder stand this evening, I couldn't take it any longer. I picked out the biggest one and tried an almost straight down shot. This was my first time shooting at a deer directly under me. The shot looked good but I hit bone as the arrow stuck in her. She broke it off after just a few yards, but no blood. So I'm headed out in the morning to try to recover her. I don't like it but I need the light to find her. I will say that those straight down shots are something I am definitely going to have to work on!

If I read correctly, you don't think you got an exit hole? That can be real tough! Hopefully she'll at least be coughing up blood.

Well hit the woods today and did a all day sit, and missed on a decent 9, he came in very fast and i rushed my shot, He came to some light rattling, and he must of been close because he was on me before i could hang the Horns up, After that i was pretty slow, and the wind blew, I had two small doe's about 15 yards and passed up the shot, And then right before dark had a decent buck come out of the Standing corn but went the wrong way, Looked to be a 8 pointer, may pass up hunting tommorrow, with the wind forcast, be back at it Monday?

Good luck on the recovery

I hate spine shots. Yes you get your deer but you have to shoot them again to kill them. Done that to many times and wont take that shot anymore.

Went to KY this weekend. Saw 2 Sat morn, my partner saw 5 and shot a doe. He did not end up recovering it even though we spent all midday trying to find it. Sat night and Sunday morn were slow, had 2 Sun. night 1 of them a yearling in range - passed. Had 2 does come in this morning the little one came first walked right under my stand and when the bigger came in behind her she tuned around and walked right in front of the bigger one as she came into my shooting lane. The little one then cleared and left me a broadside shot which I took.............the big one went into the brush at the shot and then came out about 40 yds away and walked off like nothing happened. Sure enough my arrow was clean and no blood on the ground. Best I figure is I must have shot under her; left to right was prefect. Blew an easy 23yds shot, sorry team 11, it should have been an automatic.
