I like the line "the weapon accidentally discharged" Ummm, no it didn't; the trigger was pulled. Muliple violations of firearms safety rules in this one. Let's start putting the blame where it belongs - on the people! (I know, it's the media.)

I thought the first rule was to check to see if the weapon is unloaded. My 4 year old knows that. Idiots is right.

And to answer her question: No she obviously does not need a gun, because she doesn't know how to properly use one.

AFAIC, anyone who was in the room doesn't need to have one.

"Daniel then reportedly put her hand on the grip, inserting her finger into the trigger ring. Isaacs said because the Glock 40 has no safety, the weapon accidentally discharged..'
Bad Gun; Bad, Bad Gun!!!

Idiots! Aside from checking to make sure the gun was unloaded and not pointing it at your face, why have your finger on the trigger? No gun comes with a trigger you can just brush and make it go off. Somebody pulled it! I'm not crazy about guns without a safety, but in reality no gun should need one.

No gun comes with a trigger you can just brush and make it go off. Actually, there are a few. But they are highly customized guns, not mass produced! I've shot a Remington XP100 that had a 2 OUNCE trigger, and no safety. If you just barely touched the trigger, the sear broke and the gun went off! As I said though, it was a highly customized gun. Regardless, I doubt the Glock had a trigger set that light- and yes, it was idiotic for all involved!

Legal realities force gunmakers to set them heavy. I can't imagine exerting that much force accidentally with one finger.

the Glock safe action pistol does have built-in safety devices. You must stick your finger into the trigger guard and then fully depress the trigger to make that gun go fire. If you don't, it will not fire. You can have cocked and locked and throw it off the empire state building. When it hits the street, the plastic frame will smash to bits, but it will not fire. Glock would like to know if anyone can make one of their handguns accidently discharge. I've seen a few people claim it can accidently discharge, but they haven't been able to show me how its done.

I don't believe it ever happens. I think all those kinds of stories are people covering thier butts when they screw up.
