As is stands today in Indiana one can legally kill 490 anterlerless deer IF they have ground to hunt in each Indiana county, UDZ and the time and money to do it.. This does not even count the number of state park hunts and military reservation hunts. Anybody plan on "tagging out"?

Based on early interest in vension donations, I will probably kill more deer this year than I ever have.
My limiting factor is usually juggling schedules with friends/landowners/employees that have asked for venison. Given the economy, it looks like folks may be very anxious to get some meat in the freezer this fall. If I have plenty of folks on "stand-by" for a deer or two... I'll likely kill 15-20 deer this season in 5 counties. I'd love to have the time, energy and resources to kill 49... just 10% of the legal limit! LOL!
I've got a lot of beef to eat before I can squeeze one into our freezer! (Chewing on Ribeye)

Um no I plan on as usual taking 3-4 deer for myself , wife and kids to chew on and that will be the max .I figure if someone wants deer meat they can go hunting or I will gladly take them with me but that is as far as it goes with me.I will likely take a good old buck like most years of the past because lets face dacts that is why most hunters are really hunting deer when they dig down inside and admit it.

Are the "big buck" hunters something of the past?? I mean I take one deer per year and it has got to be a good one for me to even think about releasing the arrow or pulling the trigger.Oh and I've taken deer every year since 1964 only three does have ever been taken and that was back when I was a kid and just beginning to hunt.

We must kill does .... we must kill lots and lots of does. Killing does makes hunting those big bucks better. Guys from my dads generation still remember the time when just seeing a deer was something special ..... its tough to convince some that killing does is a necessary component of a healthy and balanced deer herd.

I'd say I am good for 1 with a goal of 3 but with the way things have been the last few years I will be happy with one.
Big buck hunters....I bow to your feet and plead for your blessings

Birddog, there are very few hunters that have taken 33 consecutive "Good bucks" the way you have. You're on a pedestal of your own, most folks in the 60's were just trying to find a DEER around here. I think there is a higher percentage of trophy hunters in the woods than ever: perhaps leading to these high bag limits. If killing deer is all it takes to get private property access, make some friends and help families in need: killing deer is what I'll do. I tend to enjoy it anyway!

Fill my freezer & feed the needy with hopefully multiple opportunities that the Lord & Mother Nature provides me with.

1 to 3 for me. Depends on wheather anyone asks for one or not. In the past I have asked if some wanted one or not, this year they will have to ask me. If if is just for me I will take one doe or mature buck in early bow season. If I don't get a chance at a mature buck I will eat another tag but will have had fun looking for him.

Dare I say it? I'm with Camby on this one. As many as the Lord (and state bag limits) will allow.

I doubt it. Since I have shifted more of my attention back toward deer I can't seem to connect. When my hunting life revolved around when and where i was going to hunt waterfowl the deer seemed to walk out and ask to be shot. I have tried to balance my time with both the last few years and cant seem to do well with either. I will work harder this year to improve in both areas.

Hi all, I hope that everyone that has the good fortune to harvest several deer this year and years to come , will consider donating one to the Farmers And Hunters Feeding The Hungry program. It does not cost the hunter anything to donate to us. I am one of the coordinators in north east indiana and if you need I can get you information on chapters in your area. There are about 22 or more chapters. 50 lbs of meat will provide 200 meals in the county where it is donated.

Last 3 years have taken 1 doe per year. Would like to get 2 large does this year. If a decent 3 year old buck show up fine if not that is fine to. I am not enamered by antlers and haven't been since bonus doe came in.
