Tell your pal many thanks.....waiting on the call. My "pal" happens to be a DNR Wildlife biologist who took the initiative to try and open up private lands for hunters and help farmers at the same time! Sorry if this program is cutting into YOUR profits.,,,,,,,, The program has it's flaws and glitches but at least it's a start.... BTW this is an INDIANA program for Indiana hunters so don't concern yourself to much about it.Thread locked now? Hey ...Kentucky has a "OBR" (one buck rule) also.......Monkey see Monkey Do...

If the farmers want crop damage relief they need to start hunting coons, 90 percent of all my deer cameras that capture animals destoying crops show raccoons tearing corn stalks down and ripping corns off the stalk....Deer don't damage nearly as much as people think..In fact, a deer will only take a bite from the ear of corn and not tear it off,Raccoons and Squirrell are the main culprits.....This is all Insurance companies lobbying.....more political BS. What about beans??

What's your point? I've always supported the OBR in both Ky. and Ind. And have always supported farmers and hunters coming together. Your not trying to start something again are you?

Ground hogs are rare in southern IN. since the coyote moved in. They will play hell on a bean field though. My dad used to kill well over a 100 hogs a year, but that was before the yotes came and was 40 years ago.

Me too! I think it's a heck of a deal. Might take a few years to work out the flaws or for the word to spread but it's definately a step in the right direction.

I've got to believe that the IDNR has done it's homework on this and has lined up some farmers ahead of time.
Finding willing farmers is a lot tougher than finding deer hunters looking for a place to hunt.

Probably not.....can't imagine the DNR wanting to take responsibility for sending a farmer a hunter or two without knowing what they are sending? I'll bet it will be used mostly when farmers ask for dep tags and as a reference tool that there is help out there if the farmer wants it.

The farmers dont have to let people on their land if they dont want to so the theory of the state paying the farmer to use their land ,please. The farmers that I have spoke with are for it because it is intended to weed out the so called rack hunters that always seem to appear.Farmers are tired of letting guys hunt their property only for the hunter to pass up every deer to kill a buck. Its not just the bucks doing damage. Farmers let you hunt to reduce the deer population which in turn reduces crop damage not so guys can get their buck. Whats the huge obsession with having to fill the buck tag anyway, most guys dont kill one wall worthy anyway and the antlers im sure dont taste very good.

I'm not doubting that but how does killing one buck help crop damage.
