I have been told by a few of my hunting buddies that new PSE bows have been exploding on people while shooting?? I was just curious if anyone else has been hearing these rumors too, or it they are even true??

A quick Google search pulled up some tales of exploding bows, but not to any specific model. It sounded like they were overstressing them by shooting extremely high poundage, and probably with wisp weight carbon arrows trying to jack up their speed. Speed freaks get what they deserve eventually.

Oh no, it's the Browning Mirage all over again! I had a friend that had a ballistic Mirage blow on him years ago. I heard the limbs can come out if not pressed correctly from several sources. It seems like such springy bows would be at greater risk for blowing up, but who knows.

I'm reminded of the rumour-mill that Randy Wakeman was running about CVA muzzy's a couple of years back... but he was tied in with the Savage crowd when their smokeless deal came out, and having owned an Optima and talking with many others who had that an other CVA's with no problem, one begins to question the motives of some who post "did you hear about xxxxx exploding" messages... My son has had two PSE's and I've shot those too, and we've never had any problems whatsoever... Perhaps those who experience catastrophic bow failures are doing things like backing limb bolts out too far, shooting arrows that are too light, not checking/replacing strings and cables that are worn, dropping bows from treestands... the list goes on and on... Here's a piece by none other than Dwight Shuh, who you would think would know a thing or two about bows and proper care and maintenance... his bow exploded... now read why... www.bowhunter.com/editorial/BH_baby_0109/Don't know about you guys, but I've NEVER left any bow of mine in the field overnight... I suspect all mfg's have had some recalls for quality issues, e.g. Bowtech had one a while back, but I suspect many failures are the result of the owner's disregard for proper operation, more so than the maker...

I heard of Bowtech Generals exploding. A friend of mine bought one and then heard a month later about the problem. He called Bowtech and asked if it was 100% safe to shoot the bow. Bowtech did not deny that they had a problem with the limbs. Bowtech knew what the problem was and told him they would send out the latest version limbs. They did send out new limbs to the archery shop he bought it from. They installed them at no cost. No explosions for him so far. Check this explosion out. www.archerytalk.com/vb/showthread.php?t=731112&highlight=Bowtech+Generalr

I love My PSE, there isn't a bow company that hasn't had a bow blow up just like there isn't a car company that hasn't!

I love My PSE, there isn't a bow company that hasn't had a bow blow up just like there isn't a car company that hasn't! That is correct there is no guarentee that everything is made perfect thats why they all have a "WARRANTY" not a "GAURANTEE"

I've never seen or heard of a Mathews bow blowing up...Onieda bows were bad about exploding too..Makes a guy a little gun shy after one blow up in your face..I was shooting next to a guy when his Onieda Eagle exploded a fews years back...Not fun!

More than likely the guy was letting down on the bow and twisted the string in his hand and rolled the string off the wheels. This puts a lot of load on the buss cable and you have the end results. Yes I have seen Mathews and most other bows take a dump at the most inopportune time. Having 2 archery shops weird things happen with bows, most shooter induced.

I love My PSE, there isn't a bow company that hasn't had a bow blow up just like there isn't a car company that hasn't! That makes two of us! Sounds like someones just trying to stir it a little. This is my 3rd year shooting a PSE X-Force and I love it! I'm shooting 64 lbs, 28 in. draw and 300 FPS. Never had a problem with it. I've been shooting a bow for 36 years and I've never had a bow blow up.
