There's a conference call going on right now with DNR, BOAH and a few conservation groups to discuss the TB test results. I should know a lot more later tonight but for starters the free ranging deer that were sampled in Franklin County (30 of them) all tested negative for TB. Likely there will be some requests from both BOAH and DNR to do some voluntary testing in the counties where the high fence facilities are located. Unfortunately I do know that BOAH is out of money for such testing so I guess Woody will be picking up the bill.

Okay I have had an update on the TB situation. They are not planning on depopulating Rodney's facility. They took the non-shooter deer off the place but could not reach agreement on the shooter bucks (~ 15) still there. BOAH is planning on letting Rodney sell these animals as hunts this year and test each one as it comes out. The danger is that if any of them are infected that the facility has a single 8 foot fence.
DNR is planning on public meetings (3) at the end of this month and PR push to get hunters in the affected counties to have their animals inspected at county check-in stations. The Fair Chase Alliance is back playing defense again and hopefully the depop of the breeding facilites has contained the outbreak.
