Been hearing all the hype about these rage 2 blade broadheads. Thought about trying them, but can't get past reviews I've read concerning penetration issues...Most reviews have been positive, but some have said they had issue with only 5 inches of penetration....How many use Rage, do you recommend them or are they just another gimmick that plauges the bowhunting industry? Been using G5's, but I do like mechanicals cuase they fly real well. Thanks,Ridgerunner

They work great "IF" you adhere to a few simple rules of thumb . 1- Shoot 65 or 70 pounds out of a modern high energy compound bow that is less than 4 or 5 years old . 2- Shoot arrows on the heavy side like 450 grains and up . 3- And finally stay out of heavy boned areas at the tip of the rage heads are not even close to any type of bone breaker and will deflect or simply stop cold on say a shoulder bone.
They leave the gapping est wounds I have ever seen and dump the most blood of any head if shot through the ribs into a whitetail deer and I have yet to have a deer run over 40 yards with one in the boiler. That said I went to slick trick this year to get a well penetrating bone breaker head that oddly has two inches of total surface cutting blades they have 4 blades that are 1 inch wide each way so they really have two inches of cut good luck.

Thanks,I thing I'm gonna stick to G5's..I seen the rage makes a new under 40 ft pounds of kenetic Energy 2 blade..basically the same as their other 2 blade, but anly smaller cutting diameter..I like the ideal of a large enterance wound, but without an exit hole, it still makes tough blood trailing.Exit hole is the reason I wuit shooting mechanical a few years ago..Got lots of grey hair from trailing deer with very little blood to go on. Always found em, but not much blood to speak of..I like Muzzys but, had trouble with planing and tuning them...I like something I can screw on and go hunt without a ton of tweaking my bow..

Which G5's do you use? Strikers should fly great.
I'll say what I always say about Rage. Had one open in flight and it dive bombed on a big doe. Once is enough for me when it comes to stuff like that. I'd have died if it had been the big buck I was chasing.
If you want to try a mechanical you might consider Grim Reapers. I have yet to see anything bad said about them other than the normal fluff you hear time to time about every head on the market. I've got some 1 3/4" 3 blade razortips to try on turkey this fall, but I might let one loose at a deer if I get the opportunity turkey hunting.

I shoot rage 2-blade and love them. I shoot 70 lbs and have shot through the shoulder blade on two deer. Neither passed through, but I still had an awesome blood trail with both of them. I have always been weary about shooting mechanicals and started a few years ago when the rage came out. They fly truer than any other broadhead I have shot. Good luck with whichever you choose.

My bow is 53#, 303 FPS, with 300-grain arrows (broadhead included). I harvested 3 does and a 170# dressed 8-pointer last year with Rage 2-blade broadheads. I will be using the same set-up this season...

Thanks for the input.I'm sticking to my Montec G5's this year.I shot through deer with those that never knew they were hit...like hot butter..Which I think is a good thing..the deer has no idea what just happened, arrow slips right through em, super sharp. I actually had deer feed off after being shot not know what just happened..only to get wobbly and fall over 20 yards later..Muzzy are excellent too..but the G5's don't require any tuning for me..great heads.
