Well I just got off of the phone with the landowner and he said that they had someone hunting there last year and it just wasn't working out. I was the only one hunting his property last year!! I didn't litter or leave anything lying around. The only reason that I can possibly think of is that his wife got tired of the dogs barking when I would get there. This is a fine time to tell me. I just spoke to him 4 weeks ago at church. He could have mentioned it then. When I spoke to him he said to call him on Friday evenings and see if they were cutting wood and I could come help. I called tonight to see if they were cutting tomorrow as this was the first Saturday that I had off of work.

That is dissapointing for sure. I'd still stay close in case he has a change of heart. You may still win the spot back

I have been in that no place to go situation... and it ain't no fun.

Sounds like the next call should be made soon and something along the lines of "when y'all cutting some wood, I'd like to help"? I would't let any grass grow under my feet if a landowner, who allowed me to hunt his property, asked for some help (4 weeks ago).

it seems like more and more landowners are booting hunters off there land now This is the MAIN reason I bought my own hunting ground. While living in Indiana; I lost one hunting area after another, and before I moved I only had two spots to hunt, my own 15 acres ( could only hunt 3 acres of it) in SW Indiana + a farm that was some 70 miles (one way) north of where I lived.

Sorry to hear that. Is there the possibility that the wife or one of the little ones ran across one of the places that you field dressed a deer and became upset.

I feel your pain. I found out the day before bow opened that the ground i've been hunting for the last several years was sold. Great timing.

Well, the landowner told me at church today that another guy that had hunted the land before had gotten permission again, and gut shot a deer on Thursday and was told that he could come back on Friday to look for it. But this guy carried his bow with him and shot another deer still not finding the first. Landowner was upset and decided that they were taking at least this year off. (His wife is pregnant, and they already have 5 kids, and the dogs go nuts when I get there) So come to find out it wasn't through any fault of my own, but the thoughtlessness of another, that had shot at least 3 deer three years ago on this same land that he couldn't find. Land owner should have known better.

Sorry about your situation elmo. Is there any chance one of the landowner's 5 kids shows an interest in hunting? Maybe you can endear yourself to the owner by offering to help the kid "learn the ropes" from you?!?! Just some thoughts - hang in there and maybe the future will be a bit more positive.

Elmo, Sorry to here about this, That one guy can ruin it for you, I would bet that with a little work you will be back in there next year, Because when i meet you at Big Oaks, you sure seemed like a Standup guy, and i just spoke with you for a few minutes. Good luck this year, do you have other land in the area to hunt?

Yeah Dave I have a couple of other spots, but this is the one that is all woods and affords the best hunting opportunities. I should be able to get back in in a year or 2. I am going to ask again next year and I can get on the land without going to the house and making the dogs bark.
