I'm looking for a boar/hog hunting outfitter in TN, anyone have any suggestions? I would really like a spot and stalk type hunt, and no high fences. I have seen a few on google but most dont say if they are fair chase or not.
if they do NOT say they are fair chase, is it safe to assume they are not? and many of the hog outfitters also have exotic game, should I assume anyone with exotic game would also be fenced hunts?
Would really like a tn outfitter, but i would consider ga or one of the carolinas. thanks for the help.

i had seen that post but a few things make me weary or them. The exotics make me think these are not fair chase hunts It dosent mention fair chase anywhere on the site, even in the FAQ the no kill/no pay policy. It sounds great but again, makes me wonder how fair the chase is if they are willing to risk your money if you dont kill something. Also, a phrase about seeing sign where they say "this means your trophy is visiting the area" - my trophy? All they are describing is SIGN of an animal and they are calling it my trophy? I realize they want to pump you up, but that sounds like fish in a barell to me maybe someone w/ some experience with them could clear up these questions for me?

I've got two places in Northern Florida with wild hogs. Also gators if you want a combo hunt. Mostly hunting the hogs over bait: huntclubservices.net/index.php?page=38Gators are spot and stalk or other means. Any weapon is OK

I'm pretty sure any hunt through any sort of outfitter in Tennessee will be a fenced hunt.

I'm with danf. You CAN do free range hunts in the Smokies, in east Tenn., but you might go 10 times and not even see a hog. Not every high fenced preserve is a bad hunt. I've hunted Clarkrange a number of times, years ago, and could asure you it wasn't "easy". If you insist on free range, the only 2 choices, in my book are Florida or Texas. In 2006, my buddy and I went to south Texas to hunt. We hunted a 15,000+ acre ranch, and took 6 hogs and 2 javelina, in 4 days. It was a long haul, but a great hunt. www.lazyrhunts.com/maddog

OR... you can check into states like South Carolina that have some large feral hog populations, many on WMA's. My only problem with SC is their confusing regs-sometimes it is dog/hog only, sometimes you can use any kind of weapon, sometimes you are limited to whatever weapon is legal for the season (like rimfire's or archery for small game season) and sometimes you can hunt anything (Sunday's). I've kept up with another hunting site from SC for many years and the friends I've made there have paid off with two different hog hunts and three hogs-all for the price of tags and whatever food/camping supplies and driving costs. Danf and I had looked into several places that advertised hog hunts over the years but our feeling was that there are enough unwanted feral hog populations that need to be thinned that we were not about to pay someone else to keep that feral population growing. There are several states that have feral hogs that they want kept in check-Florida, S. Carolina, Georgia (check out Fort Stewart), etc. Put your fingers on the keyboard and do some searching, call some of the DNR or Wildlife Departments-with just a little research you could probably do someone a favor and put one in freezer.

I only know of one free range hog hunt in tenn and i would not recommend the guy. He hunts on the border of Tenn and North Carolina. The only way to be sure if you are legal is to buy tags in both states and be sure sure you now all the laws and make sure he follows them. I know him personally as i used to live near him but i have never hunted with him. It is a hound hunt which is about the only way to hunt hogs in tennessee and at best is a crap shoot cause the season coincides with bear/hound season so you have a ton of dogs in the woods and the first person to the critter shoots....i know a good place in texas if you are interested......now if your in clarksville tenn and drive east to around crossville and find a good place to deer hunt, you are in the right neck of the woods for hogs.

btw -- wilderness hunting lodge is not free range! i have been there several times. It is a fine hunt and tough as they are in some rough country, but they will cater to your needs, if you wanna shoot one, you can or if you wanna hunt one. you can

We're going to do a few more hog hunts in So. Ga. through March. Any dates are open at this time, even during the week. Our hunts have been running about 95% success on killing one, most have killed several. We're in the process of changing to mostly night hunts in the near future. Last weekend, we killed two over 300 lbs. and 4 smaller ones.
Contact me or Boonehunter for details.

A guy I work with went to the Arrowhead Ranch in south Texas last week to hog hunt. The Arrowhead Ranch is famous for deer hunting and breeding on their 12,000 acres. (It IS high fenced.)The ranch has had some problems with hogs around their deer feeders and this "problem" has turned into another way for them to make money. It was $700 for 2½ days hunting which included lodging, meals and 2 hogs. The only problem the guy had was that he killed both his hogs the first afternoon. He said he just drank beer the rest of the weekend. ;D His biggest weighed 220 and had some huge tusks. (I seen the pics.) He said there's some Mexicans that work at the ranch that will butcher your hog for 20 bucks. His buddy's hunt ended pretty quick too, he killed 2 hogs with one shot! Spine shot the one he was shooting at and hit one behind it right in the eye. I thought this sounded like a pretty decent deal with food and lodging included. This biggest draw back is that it's a 24 hour drive from central Indiana. www.thearrowheadranch.com/index.html

Our hunts in south georgia are 600 for 3 days of hunting food and lodging included. Butchering is also provided at no additional charge. There is no limit on hogs and IT IS NOT HIGH FENCED, it is totally fair chase hunting over bait or you can stalk them in places. we put out the corn take you to a drop off point and guide you to your stan(all of which are easy to find in the dark) and get your hogs out. Our hogs are averaging close to 200 pounds, sows being around 150 and boars up to and over 400. We can also hunt these hogs day or night if you are interested. Contact me or TIMEX on here for more info. This place is about a 10 hour drive from Louisville Ky.
