Last night I got off work around 4:20 (early night) and decided to go hunt for the second time this year back in Switzerland County. I arrived at 5:55 and made it in my stand at 6:00. On the way to my stand I had to run off three does who were feeding below my stand. I thought great, now I drove down here for nothing. After taking the big hour and a half drive pee from my stand I thought now things are even less likely to happen. At 6:08 I heard the grass swish and looked over my shoulder to see a deer walking in the field but he was blocked by a cedar next to my stand. As he passed the cedar he came into the clearing 5 yards from my stand. The buck I watched this summer. I had to let him walk past before grabbing my bow but got a shot off at 22 yards in the open field. I hit him a little back on a hard slant walking away. I backed out because I could see my arrow in his side as he ran back past my stand. I went back this morning and found him 100+ yards down the hill in the creek bottom. The coyotes had gotten to his hind legs but he is my best bow buck to date. I have spent two afternoons in the same stand, seen umpteen deer, 8 bucks and put the smack down on after 8 minutes in the stand. I am stoked. I would like to add a thanks for an old friend I have not seen or talked to in years who got my going in archery. Tom at Lonesome Elk north of Terre Haute. Every time I take a deer I think of how archery has been my passion for the past 7 years. This is the same deer I have hunted for two years and have on video from July and game camera the last two seasons. Still looking for those additional does. Rod Hite

Very unique trophy....

Thanks everyone. I really want to get him aged with his teeth but I am afraid it may ruin the cape to cut out the jaw bone. I am guessing 4 1/2 I know two years ago he was almost as large so he may be 5 1/2. A very grey muzzle and ears with one ear lobe split.

His body says 4 1/2 to me.. Good mature buck for sure...

I would say 140 or there abouts. I like the way the G2's are forked. I don't think you see that too often. I have seen a couple. Let us know what he scores.

I had a pope and young guru by tonight with his book while it was hanging and it grossed 161 and nets 147 rounding down. He said we may be off a few inches but he didn't want me to be disappointed after the drying period. I am happy with him without a doubt. He has great mass and good length but lacks in spread.

Awesome buck! That's the 3rd buck I've seen taken this year that has the split G2 on the right side. I like to call it the muley factor lol. I like it!
On another note, was driving home yesterday evening and a guy had his garage open with a 140's ten pointer hanging. Guess I should have gone out!!
Congrats!
