To those on this site ..... if you have killed an animal that qualifies for either the HRB or P&Y or B&C have you entered it?
I have 3 that would qualify and none are entered.

I entered a 10 point 154" buck I took in 1978 in the HRB. The county CO at that time asked me to do it and I did. The IDNR was running the program at that time. At that time the buck ranked in the top 100 in the state and 4th in Warrick county. My, have times changed?
I've got 8 or 9 that would make some sort of record book but I have no interest in registering them.

I was going to enter this buck into the P&Y book if it would've qualified. It grossed 127 7/8, but netted 122 3/8.

The one I killed last year would make HRB and P&Y but would be just short of B&C. I will probably put it in this February.

I harvested a nice big typical 10 in Parke County 5 years ago and the guy who scored it for me also filled out my paperwork for HRB. I got my certificate from the club weeks later and had to wait till the next publication to get the book. The way I look at it, my family and future generations will be able to refer back years from now and reflect on that day. Also, why not honor the animal.... just a thought.

I have one that might be around 130's. It would take a really big deer for me to enter it into anything.

Three, none entered. It isn't like you get millions of dollars or something by entering it into the "books". If it isn't the or going to be the present world record why worry about it? All you do is put your name on a very very very long list of the millions of people that have been as lucky as you which isn't near as lucky as the older hunters that hunted when there wasn't anywhere near as many deer as we have today. Antler worship is really kinda silly as it's more about your luck and hunting spot that particular season than anything else.

Here are some nice one that me and my dad have taken. They would all score over 120 with the three biggest over 140. None of them have been entered into the HRB.

I have 3 entered, but Im not sure I will do anymore. A few years ago I took a rack to have scored at a deer show for the HRBP and Longhunters and after it made the minimum I recieved several calls to my house and a nasty letter from the head of the HRBP because I didnt have my metal tag, which was with my meat. I've never had to deal with a bigger ego-maniac, and never will agian if I can help it. I ended up telling him to forget the longhunters and stop pestering me. I never did have my money refunded.
I did have the last one scored by Dean Weimer and Scott Werstler, who are great guys and deer hunters. not micro managers of a volunteer organization.
